Yeah, Kaz was delaying Home over and over again to make sure it brought gamers useful stuff. What has Home brought us so far except some outfits for your character? Where is the vision that you meet up with people in your apartment or elsewhere and join a game of your choice? Have I missed something lately?

Either he is joking, or he hasn't played many online shooters on either system.
Good question but I seriously doubt implementing a party system is rocket science, so lack of standardization is no excuse for any developer including GG.

Match making may be more troublesome, but his familiar argument makes me wonder whether the standardized matchmaking system of the said console platform with paid service is any good especially compared to the bests of the games on the platform with free online.

Of course relatedly, I also wonder why most popular online shooters on paid console use custom matchmaking code, which happens to be the same code they use on the other platform, incidentally is not even the best on that other platform.

I'm not sure how you people can justify paying for online when so many online shooters are broken, and the working ones aren't even better.

Anyway, party system is very important but not as important in a game with lobby browser compared to a game with real matchmaking support, as there is other ways to play with friends in ranked games.

I'll test the system throughly in a couple of days, but if the online is as bad as people say, the fault is purely on GG and no one else. No need to let people's not so hidden fanwarriors surface.

I think the idea is that if the platform provides all these services which many consider necessities, then the developers don't have to worry about it. If they want to do something above and beyond, they can do that, but there is a standard as to what is provided. It sounds like Killzone2 is missing some fairly basic social features, and it isn't a good thing. I think it's worth of being pointed out to people that are really into online gaming. Social gaming is one of my big things, so for me it is a big strike against it. I was literally going to pick the game up after work today to play with my brother online, but now I'm hesitant again.

Well in all fairness it does work with Warhawk. We're just waiting for those other games now ... ;) Though apparently Street Fighter 4 is joining the ranks next week or has just joined the ranks, and Resident Evil 5 will support this upon release.

It seems like GG went with a strangely PC approach (though maybe a couple of years ago). So you have quick-join, but you can also pick a server to join.

Yeah. I remember spending a lot of the time on the phone with my friend, trying to coordinate getting into the same Counter Strike servers.

At least you should be able to invite a friend to your game once you're in, right? They just might have to wait for a slot to open.

List of fixes GG is working on now: http://www.gamersdigest.net/1769/another-update-on-killzone-2-issues/

Should complain at killzone.com forum for party management. It's too obvious a gap, they should have something going internally already. :)

I've been there, but ultimately gave in because wanted to see the ending already, and start playing online. Hopefully these tips can help.

I used the framethrower on the floor on the sides of the room to stop the helghasts from rushing in, it will only stop them temporarily though. For the last wave with the rocket launcher helghasts I think you should use the sniper rifle from the centre of the balcony. Although failed to do this being a poor sniper. The last wave can already start before you finish off the one before, so keep an eye the doors on opposite side of the room. After this wave you'll get another checkpoint. Good luck.

Ha ha, where do you live ? I'm taking a long time to go through the game due to current work load.

EDIT: Okay, an official list of fixes GG is working on now:

Same here. I have no problems filling my time though, but if it takes too long while other people are already playing it gets hard ... :D

I don't expect to have it before the end of the week, considering Play.com's overseas record. But if it's not there by Saturday, I may consider buying it in-store and sending the play.com version back to play. I'm starting to wish that Play.com offered additional options from the standard free delivery which is great that it's there as an option, but sometimes just takes too long.

I am absolutely loving this game!

I found the controls to be slower than I'm used to in generic FPS's but I soon got used to the meatier feel. I managed to take the ATAC out in 27s. You get Dragon Slayer trophy!

Online, I've yet to experience any noticeable lag but the lack of a meet and greet system is annoying. But hopefully that's on the list of fixes. It will only take a few modifications to take this from an amazing game to absolutely stunning one.

Must go pop a few helmets...

Does anyone get the feeling that the story line is going in the direction Haze took, but is actually getting it right?

I've played a few games where lag was very obvious with players teleporting over screen, but outside of that most games seem fine with no lag as far as I can tell. Perhaps these are just the usual start-up problems every online game goes through. And it good to see GG is actively ironing out the last bugs. So hopefully they'll listen to the fans and also add parties to the game, although I was surprised to find very few complaints about this on various forums. It seems like such an obvious thing to want.

The lack of party system is my only complaint.
It's really hard to organize all of your friends and to enter a specific server in the same time.

What's even worst, if you want to join your friend who is already playing and you don't know whether he is playing for ISA or HG, you need to use XMB to write messages. For us who don't have those add on keyboards that's a nightmare to do.

OK, I guess I missed some info, I wonder how long it will take until Sony makes that kind of Home support mandatory for all multiplayer games. Really strange KZ2 is missing it so far.

I think it took almost a year before trophies became mandatory for all PS3 games after the first trophy games appeared.

GG should just issue a patch that lets players choose btwn the control method that KZ2 shipped with and a version that everyone who's complaining wants.

The SP is balanced with the current acceleration, if they change it then they break the game, they make it too easy. Everyone has to have the same settings in MP for obvious reasons.

The problem is so many people have countless hours in COD4 and want to be instantly great in KZ2, they don't want the learning curve. Others like myself have put zero hours into these other twitch shooters so don't care about adapting, I expect to suck at every MP game when I jump in. After a few hours I was doing much better, in the top half of my group of 16. It's kind of nice that the COD/Halo people suck as much as me, I can feel adequate for a few days while they learn ;)
