Yeah I know, That setup is ridiculous.

I think I'll be moving to best buy.

I take it your BB didn't have something like this for the 360? The local BB here had pretty much the same setup for a while with the 360. Huge Plasma TV, surround sound, and 2 couches.

Definitely the way to go with these new consoles. It looked so much better than the kiosk.

Yeah I remember something like this last year but IIRC it wasnt a 1080p tv and a 7.1 surround setup.
I think my bestbuy has blu-ray or hd-dvd players where that setup was now.

I don't see the point about them doing this.. It is pretty evident that PS3 will fly out of shelves on day one, and there won't be a lot of them at xmas time, but there will be plenty of 360s lying around. Isn't it logical for them to promote 360 even more so that they can sell already available tons of 360's and lots of games with it?

All the BB's had similar 360 setups - but the difference here is that it will be all Sony stuff, and probably highlight Blu-ray as well...

It's not about whether the 360 setup or the PS3 setup is 'cooler,' it's about the fact that this exposure will have positive ramifications for Sony beyond simply it's console business.

Best Buy don't just sell games consoles. Everything in that demo booth they can sell, the TV, the speaker system, the receivers. Full synergy across Sony's core divisions for once it seems.

The point is to bring people into the store so they'll buy something...anything. PS3 and Wii demo areas are the no brainer since they're new products.

MS should try and do something to show off their HD-DVD add on though, all Toshiba stuff or something.

usually ps brand will have one couch and xbox has the other couch...:???: I hope that BB gets what they hope out of this marketing scheme... icing the 360 like that is not a good idea to me... but... anyway...

only?
bravias are not cheap my friend.

I'm referring to the Best Buy display not consumers. I took a closer look at that model and I realized that it is a 1080p LCD not 1080p SXRD. With a 1080p source I figured they would use a larger screen to show off the resolution. If it's even legit.

probably highlight Blu-ray as well

I'd be surprised if they showed any BD movies on it. The last thing BB would want is for customers to buy a PS3 over a stand alone player that is far more profitable to them.
