There is such a thing as too much blood and violence.

Ya ! I hope they keep the nude women under control too! I do have to play this on my TV ! I don't want boobies everywhere  !

I know its funny, but the way the girls wanted to flaunt their breasts in GOW2, I am pretty worried I won't be able to play it on my TV. I will have to go into hiding. Anyways, too much nakedness doesn't serve any purpose either, just like too much gore. That is why Prototype is an adolescent's game not adult's .

Too bloody for my taste !

I can see GoWIII bring something interesting to the table. Games like DMC, HS and MGS4 stood out in my mind because of the over-the-top characters and some fantasy/imaginative elements. In comparison, Uncharted, R2 and KZ2 didn't go as far.

Are they going to show the mini-games ?

Many games have a setting that allows you to dial up/down the gore level. It would be pretty sweet if games started using the rating levels on a more interactive level. E.g. if you set parental control to level 1, that turns off the swearing. Level 2 turns off the blood, level 3 turns off the decapitation, level 4 turns off the boobs, etc.

Actually, I thought we were going to see something like that. But it looks like it works differently.

And level 5 doubles the gore and boobs.

I can't wait for this game after greatly enjoying the first two games. Kratos needs some brutality and the ancient Greece is a good place to make it happen.

Speaking as someone who wanted realistic gibbing in RE5 due to the way it would have gameplay, I completely agree. This is just... pointless. =\ Nice way to get the Not All Games Are Gorey Murder Simulators point across, people working on GoW3!

Sounds good to me :)

lol

The devs mentioned that they are concerned with a possible GoW3 ban in Australia:

Hopefully they make the gore optional (and enforce it in Australia). May be a lot of work though.

Well, there's very little simmish about God of War, for those of us who aren't naturally Greek demigods.

And how's that going to work exactly? Instead of ripping the centaur's head off, in the Aussie version Kratos issues the centaur with a legal writ and a fine of $2000 plus 16 hours community service? :p

I'd find out what exactly are the sticking points first.

The replacement is going to be lame regardless (e.g., self destruct). Then pick up Helio's head and continue venturing. Afterall, Perseus used Medusa's head in Greek classics too.

Don't know how much it'd cost them.

Are folks really up in arms about the gore and nudity?

I know it's juvinille, but really it's high time we realized that games can "grow up" per se, and break down that boundry. I don't think Blood is "taboo" anymore (I think that stopped back when MK released on the Genisis) and I also don't think that Nudity is taboo either. You're either mature enough to deal with it and move on, or you get excited / harp on it.

To the poster who commented on this "not getting the point across" that all games are not "murder sims, etc". Really? Thousands of games on the market that both advocate violence and / or art, and you're hammering on this? There's room for everything, and I hardly think God of War is going to make any ripples in the news industry. I'm going to start a thread on this, actually.

Personally, I think it's a bit much as well, but it's not going to stop me from enjoying the game for it's gameplay and narrative.

Yeah, seeing as how you need to utilize a severed head for example, or how some of the minibosses can only be killed with those fatality moves... it'd take a lot of work.

It's interesting though, that somehow the very similar Darksiders stuff isn't as disturbing as GOW3. It seems more real, like it's about causing as much pain as possible or I don't know...
