PS2 Soul Calibur II

CALL me crazy but just look at the pic with the green link and compare it to the one with heihachi.... the ps2 pic is so much sharper, especially in the far background it really stands out.... it might shimmer, but i prefere it to the blurry GC version......

Shimmering is not a problem on both version (not as bad as DOA3) from my experience, and I also prefer the sharper look of PS2 version.

May be X-BOX version will be better, I will get it tomorrow.

Er... while the PS2's were vertical, why didn't you turn the PS logos?

I turned it before when it is vertical, it has been horizontal for quite some months before today.

These weeks are too busy playing games, too many games, too little money and too little time.

Look at the grass in the first three Digital Camera shots... is it just me or is Xbox really aggressive with MIP mapping?

From still screens maybe, but you will be thankful when the game is in motion. The addition crawling from shimmering spoils the image IMHO. I mean, look around you, you are not supposed to see objects in the distant twinkling.

......AND U R SUPPOSED TO SEE THEM BLURRING THEN???

UNLESS u can't see a damn thing yeah... but don't come here telling us how the blurry effect is more realistic than the sharper look cause u won't convince many of us....

in fact, look at any DVD and tell me whether u see the details far away blurry or sharp (and yes, u can see loads of jaggies and shimmering in DVD's as well...but u don't see blurry backgrounds...)

It's being OVER aggressive. Much more so than any non-shimmery GCN game I own.

Firstly, im not trying to convince you all of that. IMHO i prefer the filtered look.

Secondly, the words shimmering and sharper do not go well. Infact, as long as the image is stable, the blurring can be taken as some depth of field.

Thirdly, i would like to hear Mask comments on how blur Xbox SC2 is and of course 720p.

Chap, it depends on HOW it's blurred Zelda:TWW uses a really neat depth of field effect (that sometimes looks a lot like FSAA in the distance!) which really nicely handles aliasing in the distance, while leaving near objects very crisp.

SC2 Xbox looks pretty sharp from the screens. Especially when you compare the Taki vs Taki shot. YOu can see that it retains the sharpness of the PS2 version with better filtering.

As for the DOF, i didnt literally meant the blurring to be taken as it. It was a cheeky response to londonboy.
