"PSP can also communication with PlayStation 2 through the USB port."

Interesting! In what form? What about PS3-PSP connectivity?

I think the USB2 connection on PSP pretty much makes it future-proof. And i think PS3 will have at least one USB connection, so it's only a matter of finding interesting ways to encourage people to buy both units and connect them together...

I've seen pretty good english-to-japanese and vice versa at ATR in Nara (well, not actually in Nara, halfway between Kyoto and Nara).

The response time for "I would like to buy this sweater, do you have it in black?" was something like 15-20 seconds, and the Japanese that came out was pretty decent. It does well when you stick to travel/tourism/shopping type content, but the accuracy drops off pretty quickly if you deviate from those topics.

And that's just 10 gov't researchers. I'm sure Sony can do better.

(I can't say I really like the whole translator-on-PSP thing tho...it'll just mean more tourists who haven't even TRIED learning the native language...annoying as hell)

Just noticed that Axel-Impact is one of the PSP titles listed.

There was a video of the game shown at the E3 (available @IGN) showing Axel-Impact, but it may have been the PS2 version (Quite impressive BTW).

ehem, ask my mother (sorry mom :( )

You do have a point... not about the paper statement, but there is no official doc/presentation/interview where any Sony rep clearly stated its officially PS3 (OK some reps might have used PS3, but not in official terms), all we've seen is "Next System" or something like that.

That said, its more than likely it will be called PSIII/3 :)

Don't tell anyone but.. I hacked the PS3 logo out of Sony

Keep it on the low.

They seem to think it's not all that sophisticated.
It's taken from gameindustry.biz report, which is in turn just translated Japanese report without any hands-on time. In other words, they have no clue how sophisticated it is, just like any of us. Moreover, they didn't even understand how it works:
However, it is not clear whether the incoming languages will have to be in text form or whether the software can actually handle spoken words.
It's been confirmed that it's taking actual spoken words as an input, and translates them into voice of a different language - which to me seems like a pretty novel (and sophisticated, at least on paper) concept, so far only announced to be featured on future Toshiba cellphonees.

But hey, as long as you put negative spin on anything Sony related, we can at least be sure that everything is right with the world, no?

Novel? Ummmm have you heard of a babelfish :p

What novelty? It has been done in STAR TREK 30 years ago!!! :D It's really just speech recognition combined with babelfish. I'd be impressed if it gets 1 out of 50 sentences right, without training.

marconelly!, only one who associated by brand was you... once again.

Talkman is a good idea, but it seems the terms "novel" and "sophisticated" are really being stretched here.
