Not sure if this is official, but some people at GAF are reporting: MGS4 and RE5! And the next GTA PS3 exclusive!

What's that, 218GFLOPS? Makes no sense IMO. PEACE.

EDIT: Get this...2 TFLOPS! That's the scuttlebutt right now. NVidia math, obviously. :LOL:

EDIT2: Some of this sounds suspect, but here goes:

3.2GHz Cell
7xSPE 3.2GB
550 MHz NVidia GPU
512 level 2 mesh
7x256MB SRAM

Basically a bunch of garbled info coming over the phone. Hopefully it's clarified.

Apparently lost the connection on the call. That's all the info so far. It really doesn't make much sense to me. But a 3.2GHz Cell, huh? Hmmm. And apparently one of the SPEs is locked down. How else do you get 7 x SPEs? I'll wait until later for proper confirmation. But Gamespot confirmed the BRD and 2006 launch already. PEACE.

That 7x256MB sounds wrong, wasn't the spe:s supposed to have 256kb of ram?.
 
Kaz Hirai has taken the stage, beginning his speech with "190 million PS2s sold. 2 billion software sales" Hirai then began speaking about PlayStation 3... It features the CELL processor as previously reported, and also features a Blu-Ray Disk drive, running at 6x. Backwards compatibility with both PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games has also just been confirmed. Hirai also stated that PlayStation 3 runs at twice the speed of Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 console is capable of reaching 10 Terraflops of processing information.

Only way that is true if it's 190M Playstations sold, and not just PS2's. PEACE.

It will also supporrd CR-ROM, CDR+W, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R. It also confirmed the machine would be backwards compatible all the way to the original PlayStation.

Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2 Ghz and feature 2.18 teraflops of performance. The PlayStation 3 will also sport some hefty multimedia features, such as video chat, internet access, digital photo viewing, digital audio and video. Sony Computer Entertainment head Ken Kutaragi introduced it as a "Super computer for computer entertainment."
