Nice. But is the 3.2GHz for comparison purposes, or will Cell really be clocked that low? Hmmm, I'm disappointed if the latter. :( PEACE.

With the GPU its going to be 2 teraflops.

If that was hinted at me was the cell would have 1 of the 8 SPEs marked bad, but another would be reserved for the OS. That would give you 6 SPEs. Let's see if that actually pans out.

Actually, it looks like there are two pools for RAM - one for system/Cell and one for graphics, rather than a single UMA. I wonder how interchangable the data is between them.

if that is true the actual gflop number will fall for what is useable in games would it not

its both. For a total of 512 megs . We don't know if its 256 that only the cpu can acess and another 256 that only the gpu can acess. Or if they can both access both pools of ram.

No, XDR would be for Cell and GDDR (probably 3) for the graphics. Its beginning to sound like NVIDIA only had time to change the host interface.

even if GPU can't access XDR mem CELL CPU can feed it

Dave, Why is that, because they didn't use eDRAM? Even if they had all the time in the world, they may have still decided against eDRAM.

Seems obvious that they will use the 8th spe hole to attatch the GS/EE chip.

    So now it's:

    256 XDR + 256 GDDR

    vs

    512 GDDR + 10MB EDRAM.

    Hmm.

Does the 3.2 ghz rating mean that theres more similarity between the PPE in Cell and the cores in the 360? Funny how they are both the same clockspeed. And MS seems to have done a good job to get as close as it did to the Gflop rating of the Cell in PS3. Still adecent advantage mind but lower that most people imagined
