Is that "in-engine" or is it a target render? It seems too clean to me, too perfect soft shadows...
Which of the first-party studios is doing this?

Edit: I'm wondering about the Home videos, the LBP movie are more in-game-like (and 100x more appealing).

For Little Big planet, It think it could be the Media Molecule project.

I saw pictures of Little big Planet and knew about the game concept, looks and sounds great.
But then I only heard vaguely about Home, that it was like Second Life, but a bit better graphically. I wasn't really expecting much, I mean, SL looks like garbage, it's due to it's nature, but still it's nothing to write home about (pun intended).
After watching that video, I can definitely say that Home's graphics look a lot better than SL's.
Great stuff content-wise too, I like the idea of virtual arcade.

This has really caught my eye. The art style (mess!) and realism work perfectly. It sounds utterly unique, and looks awesome. Definitely a huge plus-point for Sony! Just checking what vids i can find now...

Man... this is actually more than I expected from GDC, and it's not even over.

Phil was absolutely right... between MotorStorm today (and VF5 a couple weeks ago), Warhawk looking fantastic and new focus towards online play, seeing new footage from Heavenly Sword, hearing that Killzone is alive and well, Home and LittleBigPlanet... I'm absolutely happy to own a PS3 now.

This is a very good month for Sony all around. This is the type of top dog behavior that we've been waiting for -- Sony definitely showed they want to win this today.

    Exciting stuff!

This fall is going to be absolutely amazing for gamers all around (all systems, even).

Yap... why the LBP guys must be thinking about merchandizing the characters already. I wonder how many of those little dolls they will sell in Asia alone.

Screens dont do the graphics justice, in motion it is amazing. The animation and physics look top notch IMO.

Just watched the Home vid and WOW, was not expecting that. Sony rasied the bar, and its still a FREE service. Gonna be harder for me to resist buying one.

    Thumbs up for Sony.

LBP looks amazing, i really suggest you head over to gametrailers and check out the HD footage. The physics are some of the best ive seen.

It's amazing something so "cutesy" could be the most real looking game to date.

Everything looks like it really is cut from cardboard and placed in the game.

LBP is the most next-gen looking thing I've seen to date. What I'm very pleased they've done is keep everything simple and focus entirely on quality. The animation, lighting, and overall look are very accurate and believable. The DOF and motion blur look photographic. The styling is awesome, a mix of cutesy and slight weird, as you'd find in stop-motion animation. Things like the glowing stars light the environment so convincingly. The gameplay looks varied and involving. I hope it's developed to be a little more creative than shown. eg. When the last Munchkin has trouble swinging up the blue stars, it'd be great if the three already up could form a rope or ladder or somehow work together to help him up. Fostering cooperativity like that would be fantastic!

Didn't care for Home. Looks impressive and complete, and Sony have big plans. Not something I'd do a great deal with, IMO. Like socialising on GuildWars. I just ran out and killed things, and didn't stop to talk to anyone!

Excellent stuff so far. Very impressed (which is a rare thing for me  )

i dont know if its such a smart move on sonys part, announcing it before its done, which is still a few months away, whilst i cant see nintendo doing it, i can see ms buying second life or someone else + adding it to live (still will take at least a year to get up + running though)
im pretty sure ms realize this is gonna add a new definition to the meaning killer app, thus even though they will be ridiculed for copying, the stakes are to high not to

PS3 is suddenly becoming my dream console. Oh and my sisters. Just showed her Home and LBP. She is excited :D

Sony surpqassed my expectations. Live seems like a small thing compared to this

yea, it will be copied to some degree, I'm sure.

But that's what all 3 of these companies are doing this gen... competition is a good thing for innovation and a good innovation is worth copying.

see now why do you need to qualify stuff like this... can't you just talk about what's here without jabbing someone?
