Official MS E3 press conference thread

Let's get back to the games:

Fable 2. The orb innovation is awesome. The game looks beautiful. The IGN feed was quite good.

Gears 2. You can ride the brumak and the reavers. This IS GOTY! for 2008 through 2010. 5 player "horde" online co-op. The scale, effects and just badassness in this game is truly epic. The "mad world" commerical also got owned.

Please.

Money doesn't have to be the clincher here, PS3 install base is relatively small, Xbox 360 userbase is big, and they buy more software than PS3+Wii combined. Considering the game is UE3, i dont see any logical reason for them to NOT port the game. Its cheap, and you increase your market potential tremendously.

It makes perfect sense to port the game, really, it makes perfect sense for all developers that aren't owned\contracted to Sony to be multiplatform. MS didn't necessarily have to pay any money at all.

It's not UE3. It's White Engine. The Last Remnant is UE3.

Nah. The other SE games are for that. Sony were in big talks with SE to keep FFXIII - the only thing to sway them would be money. Question: Why wouldn't Microsoft pay SE massive amounts of money? They are insanely rich.

Unfortunately, that is all conjecture and I am gonna put a stop to it before it continues to derail the thread or incites flames.

Yea! I thought that was pretty neat. The god rays looked really good too. Was the video up until they showed the boy and girl CG? It looked very... HQ from the LQ feed. :p

The minigun part was nice :cool: The facial animations were a definite improvement from what I could see. And there were some subtle improvements to the running.

I've spawned off the FFXIII discussion. I know it's big, so this way we leave this thread free for discussion of all the other bits that were really quite something but are getting ignored. No more FFXIII talk here!

Holy moly. Copy games to the hard drive.

Hell yeah, that's my favorite announcement so far. Guess it means I'll be getting a 60gb Jasper model after all :) Now if only MS would ship a blu-ray add on drive then I could sell my PS3's. Yeah I know, never gonna happen :(

16x10 ... THANK GOD!

The outputs that crap anamorphic widescreen which forces me to set my monitor to fill, which in turn stretches my 360 games as well. Now I can get correct aspect ratio on my 360.

The first seconds with the bird on the tree-stump looked like film to me on GameTrailers version. Then it went 'in game'. The bird dropping looked CG. But then the actual game, though very looking, didn't match the quality of the start and that awesome city, so I'm guessing the whole thing was a CG opener.

The gameplay demonstrates a fabulous coop camera! And the drop-in world switching is a really nice idea. My only complaint so far is Molyneux's over-use of the word 'Unique' ;)

Do they render in correct aspect, or just upscale? Existing games can't be rendering in a different aspect to 16:9.

Any one-post summary ? :p

I know about:
* FFXIII going multi-platform, which is great news for Xbox 360 owners :D
* New Dashboard
* Avatar Additions
* Access to Netflix Library
* Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 shown and dated

What else ?

I'm assuming the 360 will just add letterboxing top and bottom if you set it to output a 16:10 resolution.

My monitor has 1:1, aspect stretch and fill. When I set my monitor to aspect stretch, the 360 outputs 16:9 and my monitor adds the black letterboxing top and bottom. The problem is the Wii is outputting 640x480 for it's anamorphic widescreen mode so my monitor maintains an aspect of 4:3. If I set the monitor to fill then both the Wii and 360 are stretched to 16:10 when they're supposed to be 16:9. Now with 16:10 output from the 360 I can have a correct letter boxed image in fill mode and have a slightly stretched Wii image which is no worse than before.

And I think some monitors don't have a mode that maintains aspect ratio, so this will be a big plus to people with those monitors.

So where there any new games announced ?, except the only thing discussed in this thread ?.
Most of the titles were already knowns, like Gears 2, Fable 2. The unknown titles are mostly 'smaller' titles like Lips and that motion thing described, something like EyeToy Kinetic/Dance...thingum, and the player footage is superimposed onto a 'movie'. Eurogamer have a headline for pretty much every announced title ;)

Geometry Wars 2! Some other arcade titles, I think.

The sequel to Viva Piniata. Not sure if that was already announced.
