Word on gaf is that is part of the show. Check out the hints:

This was part of the "supritendent's" message on Bungie:

KEEP IT CLEAN
PLEASE REMAIN CALM
THERE WILL BE DELAYS

If not, kitty gets it :(

I hope every interview with MS now consists of "Why did you fuck bungie over!?!??!?"

Louis Wu at bungie.org:

I can confirm, after speaking to more than one Bungie spokesperson, that this is no stunt, no joke. This is real, and they're as unhappy about it as we are

Now... of course, he could be in on it too, but... that'd be darn cruel. :(

My guess is that Microsoft was holding whatever Bungie was going to announce as a reserve against any megatons dropped at Nintendo or Sony's conferences.

Since nothing was really megaton-worthy at either the Nintendo or Sony conferences, they are probably going to save it for a later event.

Maybe GC (8/20), or PAX (8/29), or maybe even TGS (10/09).

My bet is on PAX.

Unless this "delay" is just part of the show that is.

Perhaps MS had planned on holding this announcement mid week as a response to any big news coming out of the Sony/Nintendo camps, and because you can argue they have already done as well or better than their competition at this event, decided at the last minute to save it for another day. Hopefully for their sake, when they need it more. Problem is now, when they seemingly had good momentum going at this event, this last minute two-step ends up being a stumble. Maybe one day they'll actually get it all right.

Edit... Damn... Beaten again.. spent too much time proof reading... next time I'll just hit enter.

It's probably just a "strategic" move, wanting to focus on the games that they showed at their keynote i.e. Gears 2 etc.

Luke Smith (ex 1up, now Bungie PR) said it wasn't a joke. *shakes fist*

Though with MS's apparent E3 triumph, I guess they've put a card back in the deck. Though that makes life less fun for the rest of us.

You know what , i'm glad they didn't show whatevr bungie is coming out with . if it wasn't going to launch by next e3 then why show it . Everything they showed should be out by next july. the bungie game most likely would have been next holiday or later.

In the game trailer video showing the new dash , did anyone notice that it says a 118 gigs free ?

thats not possible on a 120 gig hardrive so do you think they are releasing a bigger hardrive ?

Devkits were 60 GB when only the 20 GB consumer SKU existed, so they might be 200 GB nowadays.

Microsoft Confirms That Bungie Is Developing New ‘Halo’

Here’s something to add to all the E3 drama this week about Bungie Studios‘ canceled/postponed/hyped debut of a new game…

In an interview shot for MTV News on Tuesday, Microsoft’s head of Xbox business Don Mattrick, confirmed to me that Bungie is indeed working on a new “Halo” game of some sort for Microsoft.

I had been asking Mattrick about the lack of “Halo” news at E3. He said that Microsoft’s Monday press conference was already loaded with content and so any announcements for that series weren’t needed to get gamers excited.

I pushed him on the lack of presence for the series and asked him if we should be worried about the no-show of Ensemble Studio’s real-time-strategy game “Halo Wars.” Not only did Mattrick say not to worry and that announcements would be coming, he also said that Microsoft is working with Bungie on a “Halo” game.

I asked for clarification, wondering if Mattrick meant Bungie’s project was “Halo Wars” or the long-announced Peter Jackson “Halo” project. Neither, Mattrick said. The Bungie game is something else.

And then, not surprisingly, the topic was changed.

In the coming days, we’ll have more from the interview — covering Microsoft’s courtship of Square-Enix and the importance of exclusive content and games in the future — here at the MTV Multiplayer blog.

Hrmm, I just read that Portal XBLA is actually the whole Portal game, plus some bonus content. Hope us Orange Box owners can just pick up the DLC :/

don't know if this was posted yet HD 4 minute walkthrough of new Dash

definitely has that high quality Media center vibe. the Avatars were designed by Rare allegedly.

1v100 is going to be a cool optional online community game diversion as well. kind of overlooked in the shadow of the other big announcements Monday

yyea , it was posted but its good to see it again as its burried deep in the thread.

thats where i got the 118 gig space free thing from.

I really think the elite is getting a refresh

My question is "Did Bungie get prior approval before initiating such an event?". If not they got only themselves to blame especially if it's Halo4, since we all know MS's current strategy when it comes to E3 and having anything Halo 4 related would of overshadowed almost everything from the conference". If so, MS should of allow Bungie to continue as this fiasco hurts more than it helps and casts a negative shadow over MS and Bungie and negates some of the shine from the conference.

I don't see how this hurts at all.

This is probably working out far better for them than had they actually gone through with the announcement.

Now only the really really really diehard fans even know anything about this, most people will talk about NBC/Universal or Netflix or FF coming out of E3 which is exactly what MS wants.

Furthermore, the small percentage that actually do know the story are now psyched and speculating about what the game might be... Halo 4? Squad-based Halo ala R6? or what?

I have a hard time containing myself when I hear words like 'fiasco' being thrown around.

Fiasco. Really? MS and Bungie had something huge and Halo-related ready to showcase and decided to delay the reveal for a later time.

Oh no! This horrible! How could this have happened?!

I was hoping Bungie was working on something non-Halo. I'm sure they are tired of the IP as are many gamers.

I'm sure Halo still has plenty of pull with gamers. I'd certainly buy it as I'm sure many others. Afterall, if we can have MGS4, CoD5, FF13, Zelda and Mario (if you gave those games a number) we can certainly have a Halo 4.

A new halo before 2009 is over kill , if its holiday 09 i will be into it though.

I'm hoping for another myth or something though. perhaps some new ips
