Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Reviews

What about the 5800x3D? I just swapped out my 5950x for it and it supposedly gives Alder Lake a run for its money.
Assuming it stays CPU limited they should be about a match, at least on TPUs choice of games 12900K and 5800X3D are dead even at 720p on a RTX 3080.

Edit: Just realized this is better placed in the DLSS 3 thread.

I think it should be slightly faster than the 12900K.

Going from 5800X to the 12900K yielded some significant increases for several games at 4K: Borderlands 3 gained 14%, Battlefield V gained 13%, Death Stranding gained 18%, Far Cry 6 gained 8%, Far Cry 5 gained 25%, Forza Horizon 5 gained 10%, Halo Infinite gained 19%, Hitman 3 gained 18%, Red Dead Redemption 2 gained 17%, Watch Dogs Legion gained 7% and Spider-Man Remastered gained a whooping 19%. We can add 2% or 3% for the 5800X3D or the newer 13900K. I guess we shall soon see. TPU intends to test again with the 5800X3D.

TPU has remade all of their testing using 12900K instead of the 5800X and the results were spectacular.

The 4090 gained 6.5% at 4K, 13% at 2K and 15% at 1080p .. some games gained some huge 20% at 4K, and up to 50% at 1080p! The 4090 does indeed expose a huge gap between Zen 3 and latest Intel CPUs.

Did they use the 5800X in the original reviews or the 5800X3D?

As their review of the latter put it a head of the 12900k in gaming performance and well ahead of a regular 5800X.

Yep for current games the additional 64MB cache is way more useful than the additional 8 cores. Doesn’t matter much on a 3090@4K but figured I would swap now while a 5950x still fetches a decent price.
I'm holding on to my 5950X, and still expecting AMD to produce a 3D V-cache variant, because it's possible...

Ive been following his reviews/videos for a while now, i think its really good channel in special if your looking for more then just gaming.
For creators this thing is 115%/2.3 times faster than the 3090, while drawing less than the Ampere 3090, 295w for the 3090, 227 for the 4090.

In V-Ray, Octabench and Blender, the 4090 is 2X the 3090, while consuming anywhere from 40 to 80 watts less than the 3090.
When the 3090 is doing 340w, the 4090 is doing 270w, while providing 2X the performance!

4090 supply will probably be gobbled by archviz firms then... and they are way less price sensitive than gamers. so maybe 4090 is still a very good deal for them
