Now Matt claims Nintendo says its 2-3 times more powerful than the gamecube, oh boy I hope they are being teh uber conservative.

Considering last gen nintendo was conservative with specs and how bad their console was I'd say don't be worried. Also matt posted a photo of samus that looked really good, though he didn't say if it was real or what just implying most likely that samus is on the way for revolution.

I'll say this much . If it is only 2-3 times as powerfull they should really under cut the other two consoles in price .

I would think half the cost should be good

If it's only 2-3 times more powerful than I wonder how the heck they'd be able to continue to play GC disks on it. That certainly isn't powerful enough to emulate it, is it?

if the revolution support native 16:9 display, extremly high texture and no jaggles at all . do u think it's ok to be just 2.5 times the power of gamecube for 480P display?

will it be a great difference between 720P and a very good looking 480P games?

It doesn't emulate GC, it just runs GC games.

Still, they can't be that dumb, can they? I mean, spec'ing themselves that low would absolutely kill their ability to get any multiplatform games, which would basically mean that for 3rd party developers, they're sunk. I can't imagine them trying to do that. Heck, ATI already have integrated chipsets that are several times more powerful, don't they? Why take that kind of a step backwards?

Just the increase in resolution requires that much increase in performance just to get the same level of graphics as the old GC.

I have a very hard time believing that it is only 2-3 faster than GC, but maybe they think a $100 dollar GC+ that runs last gen quality (or slightly better) games at HD resolution will fit some kind of niche.

I will put my money that the new Nintendo system will be at around the same level as XBOX360 and PS3.

Xbox spokesmen have pointed out that 360's specifications are 10 to 13 times more powerful than those of the original Xbox; Sony said Monday that the processor in Play-Station 3, which will come in several colors and be out next spring, will be 35 times more powerful than the PS2 processor.

Nintendo makes more modest claims that Revolution is two or three times more powerful than GameCube. "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' " Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan says. "It's about what you do with it."

Why are they shooting themselves in the head?

This seems like a confirmation, unless Nintendo is playing games (no pun intended) Revolution is a GC on sterioids and not a true next gen architecture.

I like the size and I think I am going to like the prize, but really why not save the money and buy a real next gen console and maybe keep your old PS2/Xbox/GC.
