Next-Generation Gaming Pre-Orders Poll [2020-09]

Had a mare with the PS5 but ended up with 2 standard editions, Argos and Amazon, both appear to have possibly over commited so we shall see. Was trying to get one for my brother in law so hopefully he will have one on launch.
For the series X I went a bit crazy as time to ked by on Amazon and I could not even locate the listing. This sent me into a panic, ended up with both X and S ore ordered from Argos as they both showed in stock and assumed that would change as I tried to check out. Both stayed in my basket so I have an S.... That's almost certainly going back unless a friend who is on the fence takes it. At the same time I ordered an X from Microsoft store. Both sites were dying on their feet and limped over the line taking about 5 or 10 mins to simply "checkout". I am sceptical until I get follow up confirmation later that I have allocation.
Whoever came up with the phrase retail therapy has never pre ordered a console online.

Spent $499 on a new Playstation and a new Xbox on Amazon
Got 3 PS5 preorders and 2 XSX (different/backup retailers). Which is more or less all I wanted. I'm pretty content. Both were pretty hairy but especially XBox's preorders today were pretty brutal, so I'm happy to have come away with some. Xbox could have easily gone either way, I could have easily gotten zero.
BTW same poll on Era, ouch again for XSS. Lot closer Ps5/XSX spread than usual polls
Appears most people got what they wanted.
Good side effect you can tell yourself, it's possible AMD's offerings could offer more value in a ~month (499 for 3080 performance etc?) so now you can wait and find out.
BTW maybe you could add Oculus Quest 2...I'm probably the only one who preorder that
Anecdotal for sure but I found preordering the PS5 very easy, I literally went to Walmart page on a whim and placed my order, I tried to preorder a Xbox Series X and couldn't on several websites.

In Spain the only thing not sold out is the XSS.

I battled both Best Buy Canada and MS store preorders for the XBOX Series X. Both were up and down with the loads, and BBC failed to actually post the product on the link they lead you to for a good 10mins; about 20 mins in I got a one in my cart from BBC, but they failed at the payment side. In the meantime, MS Store allowed me to get one in the cart and, after a few tries, took payment, with the confirmation mail coming 32mins after 11AM.
I did still have the unit in my BBC cart, and attempted to continue a few times, but ultimately released it to give it to someone else.
Happy that I got in on my preorder, but bummed that my local games store (shout out to Microplay Newmarket) were not given any pre-order allocation.

A nerdy friend of mine has set up his home assistant to check the web site of one of the big electronics stores here in Norway if the pre order text is changing for PS5, every 30 seconds!. If it changes he will get a critical warning on his phone with maximum volume regardless of phone setting
My pre-order status has changed to "Pending" at the Microsoft store. Seems that this has happened elsewhere, so hopefully it means they are allocating the stock. At least, I hope it does as I've already booked the 10'th off work!

Guess I need to plan to take work off now. I have 33 days accumulated. Time to start cashing some of that in.

No idea, but wouldn't you do that on the carrier side? On my My UPS account I can require that. Stll no idea who they are using to ship it though.

I still haven't secured a PS5 preorder, and my RTX 3090 FE preorder is still on backorder status. 2020 go away....
