Let me say that I still think that the first video is more impressive if only because they use the Xbox's X button for the control scheme. In Jvd's video F is used for use, space is used and shift which we aknow are PC control systems. Walking through th trenches is amazing though especially the few pockets of water that will puddle up.

The sense of mayhem is still in credible in both.

For my money the BEST animation I have ever seen is the Lebron James animations shown off for NBA2k6... i havent found it anywhere on the net to link to though.

the distance was very far on normandy demo. plus ploom from bombing at end was very large and impressive. that many participles from distance must require alot of ram. Judging from currect games, this must use maybe a gig or two of main memory. and 512 of video.

I mean, the levels look huge. you don't have line of sight that far and that detailed on current dvd games.

the game looks fun but the AI looks pretty brutal.

When will they give enemies EARS??? if you run up besoide somebody, they should hear you, not just sit there and let you shoot them in the head. also, whats with the guy mowing down his own soldier when he's trying to bash open the door?

I think the graphics aren't up to par for a next gen title.

But the gameplay looks absolutely fun as hell.

He was firing an automatic machine gun what the hell was he gonna hear even with ears those things are loud as hell and he was focused on the task at hand

I really liked the part where the person who is playing goes under that building, and then you see guys run past and don't even notice him. Shows that the enemy won't know where you are ALL THE TIME like in other games. It reminds me a lot of Medal of Honor, which makes me kind of think a lot of the stuff that's happening are scripted sequences. Did anyone else get that feeling?

killzone was CG not in game footage. There certain things in 3d render packages that you just wouldn't want to duplicate. In other words why fake the effect for something when like voumentric fog/smoke when you can use actual volumentric fog/smoke in a CG ender.

Why are people comparing this to an actual game. Jesus, there wasn't one single looped animation in that Killzone movie, and that should be the first clue the real game won't look like that.

Are scripted sequences forced to use such(looped animations)? If not, this is a non-issue. Also, afaik even if it was a render, it most likely used in-game assets. If the smoke looks a little off, or if the lighting's a little off, it's not that significant. If the final game matches it in model complexity, and number of objects/animations/particles on-screen, even if it looks a little off, they'll have delivered.

In any case I believe it's definitely possible, having seen HS.

Scripted sequences in actual game engines don't need to use looped animation. for instace, in game engine cutscenes on current consoles or PC sometimes do this. They "can" stream in animation from disk or whatever source.

However most games will make scripted sequences out of animations used elsewwhere in a game. Like I said before, the animation (as flawless as it was) is only one of the areas that made it look like CG and not ingame. anylyze it yourself and list out everything you saw in that demo that you've never seen in a game before. I'd be interested to see what you pick.

The smoke in Quake Wars is alright, nothing special since I've seen that type of smoke in games like Rogue Squadron II. The thick volumetric looking smoke in COD2 is much better. The lighting on the smoke whether it's dynamic or prebaked in COD2 and the animation is much better. Also the lighting is nice too and there's some HDR going on when that player looked up at the sun. Slightly OT but this just makes me salivate at what RE5 in terms of fire, smoke, water, particles will look like next gen.

I agree this video looks amazing. The game looks to be action packed and looks to give you some freedom (not too linear compared to some) at least in this clip. Cant wait to see what multiplayer etc has in store for us :devilish: The next gen is showing that maybe it does have some legs to stretch :D

As for the comparison of the KZ2 I have "Wait and See" attitude with that game. While I have hopes for it, I just am kind of cautious about it until we see some actual game footage (like we have seen here with COD2). I keep remembering the promises about KZ 1 (Halo Killer comes to mind) but was really dissappointed by the game. With the comments about KZ2 if was prerendered, CGI, in game etc. ( I dont want to start that argument all over again :? ) All I can do is hope for the best. Hell if it does end up looking like what we saw with E3 footage in game I sure as hell wont mind as long as the other aspects of the game are there to match (Story, AI, physics, etc.) :devilish:

Nice indeed, though I am very sceptical on the framerate issue. The framerate in its current state is simply unplayable (IMO) - though I think it's given that the framerate will improve in time to a playable state - I'm not too sure if they'll ever get beyond the 30 Hz mark - and that IMO would be very disappointing. The game that does this much on screen and looks this good at solid 60 Hz would be a worthy impressive achievement.
