New Video from CoD2 for X360

How can you sit there and compare 1 game running on actual hardware, while the other has no hardware, until I see it with my own eyes, KZ2 footage will remain CG in my mind, no one here knows what next gen system graphics will be like, for example all first generation ps3 games will probably fail to meet the graphics shown in there tech demo, but maybe by the 4-5 generation they will reach that mark, but as of right now we don't know how the final game will look.

Because if the realtime footage is high enough quality, it lends credence to the possibility that the video footage is a fairly accurate representation of what to expect.

I'm fairly impressed with what I saw. dispite the very bad video quality (not a fault of the game obviously) and dispite the framerate becoming extremely choppy at times (obviously is a fault of the game).... but overall I thought COD2 North Africa seemed pretty damn awesome
especially concidering it was running on Alpha Kits that no doubt used the R420/X800 or R480/X850. this is not even true 1st-gen Xbox 360 software yet. just think what can be done when games are totally optimized for the CPU+GPU+Memory architecture.

as for COD2 NA vs Killzone PS3 render, there is no comparison. COD2 NA is an actual game, and what you in that video is actual game-play. one cannot say the same about a render.

yeah too bad it's not.

My advice for anybody watching this vid, is to watch it at 50% of the size and at double the playback speed. Then you can see it clearer and it looks sharper.

good tip thanks

looks amazing. Can't wait to see it running on real hardware.

I had seen the Normandy landing vid from E3 (a shaky cam vid of a private screening at E3) and was floored by the action.

I like it better than this actually.

check out 2:24> on this vid though.

Enemy soldier gets wounded form a rifle shot, as you approach he is laying on his back with pistol in hand and you melee him with a rifle butt stroke to finish him off.

also the smoke starting at 1:33>

that's the one jvd thanks :D

the action is very intense, especially liked (as Inane pointed out) the grenades in the buildings, the assistance of your squad mates and the scene outside when the half track arrives and then the imagery near the end as they head down the road.

d day video. looks more impressive i think
Holy cow! That's the most intense war scene I've ever seen in a game. CoD2 wasn't on my list of games to get (thought it would be more of the same CoD), but it is now.

killzone was CG not in game footage. There certain things in 3d render packages that you just wouldn't want to duplicate. In other words why fake the effect for something when like voumentric fog/smoke when you can use actual volumentric fog/smoke in a CG ender.

Why are people comparing this to an actual game. Jesus, there wasn't one single looped animation in that Killzone movie, and that should be the first clue the real game won't look like that.

Qroach nobody is saying that the video was real-time now. I'm saying that what we seen is very possible. And taken by the video I gave and jvd's better more intense video I don't see why you would argue that. Imagine if CoD2 had a steady 30fps and was cut to a 2 minute video like Heavenly Sword was.

It would have gotten huge reviews, believe me. The camera in both videos kind of suck but you should get the idea. Take away the scripted events in the KZ video and obviously that game could be reproduced for a launch title.

Why can the guys at Spark be able to do a game that looks so so great for a X360 launch window, but Guerilla can not? In the end it doesn't matter how you feel because looking at the CoD2 demo makes me and some others see what's really possible and not be so negative.

mckmas8808,

You're twisting what I was saying.

Why can the guys at Spark be able to do a game that looks so so great for a X360 launch window, but Guerilla can not?

I have no idea where you're getting that from, but it's not from anything i wrote in this thread. It's failry clear that i was saying people shouldn't expect Killzone to look like the CG demo. That's all. i didn't say or imply that COD was the same quality level, or that the killzone guys couldn't make something of the COD quality level. I was saying to NOT expect the quality level of the killzone video in the game (that includes COD for that matter).

Check out what Brim just said.

CoD2 does look great so far. I like it that the dust and smoke effects the ambient lighting.

Isn't this the main reason why people thought that it couldn't be reproduced on a real game? Well the CoD2 video proves that it is possible and it can be a first gen title.

Does call of duty look good? yes it does look good. That's not in question here. As it still doesn't look as good as the CG in the killzone movie.

I'm not really sure what your goal is mckmas8808. you tend to bring up killzone in almost every thread and imply (without specifically saying) that it's real or could possibly be made. you seem to be grasping at straws.

CoD2 realitime is a good enough/close enough realtime approximation of the KZ render that makes KZ render quality graphics a a DEFINITE possibility for next gen systems.

In fact what was totally unbelievable only weeks ago (KZ2) is now completely believable after having seen the CoD2 video.. especially considering its running on non-optimised kits using current gen hardware (with the release of the g70, X800/6800s actually last gen hardware) with a fraction of power of the final console silicon... you cant help but be impressed and maybe a believer..

Whereas I was a naysayer once upon a time, Now if KZ2 doesnt end up close to the render I'll actually be disappointed.

Why is it that some people like to pick on just me. Maybe I'm not typing it correctly. I brought it up here and one other thread that's a KZ thread. I believe that blakjedi has explained it better than me though.

Now I now that's right. CoD2 will be amazing. Will it come out for the PS3?

COD looks great, i do agree. but it certainly doesn't compare to the Killzone too CG. It doens't have graphics even close to as good as what was show in the rendered footage. For good reason, killsone was renderedl.

you really think this:

Looks as good as this?
