New PGR3-clip (latest build?)

I believe it was #6 where they took control of the camera and panned up and down the street, looking at pedestrians and buildings. If my perception is right, all those shots they had early on of the buildings represent the average case, not the special case. And that's freaking amazing.

So much for the theory they were cherry picking buildings and that they could not/would not do this throughout the game. Bizarre has really moved up in my book. They made some claims and they have turned out to be true. My tendancy is to believe developers when they say something (outside of subjective things like "this is the best ever" type stuff). If they were not completely honest the finished game will tell the tale. So far it seems Bizarre has been spot on with PGR3.

Even more, I am really surprised they were able to keep some things secret--like the interior car view and camera. If they had shown that at E3 it would have been exciting but EA/Namco might have stolen it for their racers. I cannot wait to get to play this at a Kiosk on a Samsung HDTV. I am kind of holding out for the first game that forces me to buy a new console (pretty happy with my PC with 6800GT), but I cannot resist too many titles like PGR3. Good news is nothing else on the radar gets me too excited, so my pocket book is safe until I see more games from MS and Sony on the market :smile:

There's a seriously insane amount of art content in this game, especially when considering the quality of it. I wonder if we'll hear about production costs and such...

I wonder about how much space it takes on the DVD disc as well. They kind of did the art in the "easy, but expensive way" -- expensive being in disc space and possibly cost to get it (although paying artists to do it all could be even worse).

The fact it is all fitting on 1 DVD9 I think bodes well for a solid percentage of next gen games. (Yes, there will be many games that need more, I know... just making an observation about a media/art rich game with significant amounts of large textures).

Bizarre mentioned they have 500 gig in city texture data for PGR3, compressed and processed so it all fits onto the DVD.

Mmm after seeing NBA2k6, i'm not too sure :smile:
I mean, was that like out of the blue or what? And here I was ho humming about "Lots of games, but nothing too interestingly new since E3".

We have only really seen a bit from a few titles (PGR3, Kameo, CoD2 PC, NFS, N3, GOW), and even those have been pretty limited. Outside of that most tiles have been pretty quiet.

I am hoping for more surprises at X05. I think we would never get bored of surprises like NBA2K6... now lets hope it plays well!

And this has been my view apon devs since E3. With all next-gen consoles and all next-gen games. Believe them about what their final product will look like until it comes out. Even the unmentioned game. This game to me shows people what a real next-gen title is all about. Bizarre are doing things that some people thought would be impossible next-gen. The funny thing is it's a launch window title.

Here's some more footage ---->ClickCity

That zip file has three vids, all of them are in-game (someone actually racing like mckmas8808 link but better quality).In one of the clips he actually pauses the game and pans around the car and moves the camera into the interior of the car and shows some of the details.

Looking great.

They're the same as the ones J_Saint posted.

I dont understand the hype.The game has some framerate problems and it doesnt
run constant with 60 Frames/s.I think it is better to release the game in Feb06 or so
for more optimize time. But is that possible is enough room for optimize when
X360 games are programming under XNA and API???

I agree - contrary what many said in the past, it does look like PGR3 will slip off the launch list and in fact launch later... maybe in the Spring? We'll see.

I also agree with the framerate - IMO as good as this looks - I'll always remain a skeptist knowing this should be running at twice the framerate it is - but since it won't, everything effectively can look twice as good -> which then makes comparasment with any game aiming for double framerate rather difficult. As bad as Ridge Racer 6 looks in comparasment, I'm sure the speed factor will be somewhat more exciting than this, though the immersion of the camera angle does seem to make up for quite a bit.

Honestly, it's a damn shame the developers aren't getting their priority right - this would be absolutely stunning at double framerate.

60fps whores... You have to love them. :LOL: I cannot help but laugh reading the rantings of people who haven't realised that the framerate of those videos -25fps at most- has little to do with the actual framerate in the game.

To their credit Bizarre has said it is running at a solid 30fps and they are aiming for 60fps.

Remember, a solid 60fps != 60fps average. It could, but most games--if they are GPU limited in some areas--will bounce. If I am averaging 60fps I may get 5% over 80fps, 45% over 60fps, 30% over 30fps, and 20% below 30fps.

Even though in the above I could be getting an *average* of 60fps, with 50% of frames below 60fps and 20% below 30fps it would be VERY choppy. In this scenario LOCKING at 30fps would be really really smooth comparatively.

To hit a solid 60fps they are going to need probably 60-70% of frames above 60fps and less than 10% below 30fps. Your talking about an average framerate of OVER 60fps to get a stable 60fps.

That is asking a lot of a next gen title at launch--let alone that looks as hot as PGR3.

As time goes on devs will be able to cut the margins a little closer on the average framerate, but for a first gen title if you want a solid 60fps (and not a gittery 60fps, which is worse than 30fps locked IMO) they are going to need some really nice average framerates.

I guess the good news is that it is only 1280x720 and theoretically no significant performance loss for AA/HDR (compared to the PC GPUs), so I could see a high end PC GPU doing PGR3 type graphics at that resolution if the game was designed for one.

Lets hope they can hit 60fps! Either way it will be a great game in my book... but I think 60fps is the icing on the cake. If it does hit 60fps, it may end up being one of the top 5 racers this gen. PERIOD.

60fps? With the inner cabin camera? The sense of speed would be so high that this WILL be put on my best racer list. I've played PGR (the original) and I like that Kudos system. This will be the first time i've played PGR in a while.

There is more than that though. Motion blur, dramatic lighting changes (especially the different HDR effects), and the effects they have employed are just as important, imo, as the 60fps and cabin camera for the sense of speed sensation.

60fps + cabin camera + motion blur + dramatic lighting ... I am not sure we have a good benchmark to compare to. Not that 60fps is a bad things--it is good!--but I think some of the new graphics tricks will make 30fps games better than last gen games at that framerate, and a next-gen game with these graphics tricks at 60fps is going to have a MUCH better sense of speed than a last gen game at 60fps.

Or put another way: GT4 + HDR + next gen motion blur @ 60fps would have an insanse sense of speed!
