it doesnt just work on non-moving images... don't know why anyone said that.

if you enable 3xT you can clearly see the flickering edges in some places on games (farcry sand horizon for example).

even when moving around you will still see it flicker (confirmation that it works when still or moving)

use 2xT with 2xAA or 4xAA and your life will be much better :D

can Someone tell me what's this?
    MSAA type = MULTIZAMPLE_NONMASKABLE
Mulstisample quality - 1, with MSquality 0, the picture is different.... but anyway I always thought R9000 has only SSAA ......

Really? How does temporal AA help when the pixels is at different posisions from frame to frame. Perhaps I need to reread the thread.. or maybe someone will be so kind and explain this to me real slow like. :)

That it works is one thing. That it gives you better IQ another. I get the feeling that it's not available in the control panel for a reason.

It's the remenants of what was supposed to be psuedo random supersampling AA on the r200 series of cards.

In every driver other than 7206 (and its XP/2000 equivalent) it only looks like that in d3d and oddly enough when no fog is being used.

As you can see the texture and geometry samples are in different places. The 8500 will actually get the same problems as no centroid MSAA in some games when it's using that mode.

less jaggies and smooth aa (which looks like double whatever yuo set FSAA to - ie 2x looks like 4x) is better IQ - and at the same frame rate.

basically you can run 2xaa and get 4xaa but with the performance of 2xaa and no loss in IQ.

that to me is amazing - and the reason its not in the driver is because its new - it doesnt work in previous cats, and this is probably the `surprise` ATI had for us - or it would have been launched with the x800 etc.

its not in the drivers, hidden, because its old - it doesnt exist in older drivers. :D and as previously discussed - it could still be in the beta/testing stages also - which would be more than good enough reason not to have released it yet. 8)

I'm impressed if it works. It's just that i'm a bit sceptic when it comes to getting new fantastic FSAA modes from a almost 2 year old card. (I'm guessing that it works on the 9700 also, or ?)

And Democoder didn't seem to be that impressed but i'll reserve my judgement until i see some reviews of it. I have a friend that has a 9600 though, maybe i should pay him a visit today and have a look.

It is not launched yet.. it's just hidden in the drivers, and probably not in its final form.

As for the surprise ATI has for us... well... nope, that's not it

Why not? Unless ATI patented this method of AA like Nvidia did with Quincunx

As this is a subjective psychological form of AA it seems to work or not work depending on whether you like nvidia or Ati more ;) it'll be interesting to see whether jaggies or flickering proves more annoying in the long run.

Nvidia is getting better performance by making you buy a massive PSU, Ati is getting better performance and IQ by making you buy that uber CRT ... I'll probably have to upgrade my house by the time nv50/r500 come out.

I don't think their hardware supports programmable AA patterns, at least that was what I heard someone say yesterday.
