The Crysis CEO claimed they have the best looking game on all platforms. Future games will just be minor tweaks. I am glad they were wrong.
I think some people are getting wound up for nothing. Everything's gonna be fine.
Isn't that a matter of opinion? I think C2 is one of the best looking console games out but at the same time I can see why others would disagree.
Yes and no. He forgot the art part. The final game is an amalgamation of art and tech. His technologies won't guarantee good art automagically.
Besides, if it's a completely subjective matter. His statement is already wrong, or rather not universally correct, by definition.
We can find angry Crysis 2 gamers by googling.
This whole post can be said for pretty much any game.
I'm not talking about the developer's hyperbolic comments, most developers do that to some extent these days. I'm just talking about your comment and how it's merely a matter of opinion.
They haven't said anything about the 360 game other than they have an alternate renderer for the system. ^_^

... which is why I mentioned he's wrong, especially when one can find people who disagree strongly by googling.
For games that can't distant themselves clearly from the pack, it would not be convincing.
Feel free to solicit other opinions. ^_^
But if you think the whole post above can be said for any game, then it may not be an opinion.
Are you trying to tie this into BF3 being clearly above C2 on console? Because I dont see that based on what we've seen so far, which is little
What makes you say they were wrong? While there are games (like Uncharted 3, Gears 3) that compete with C2, I havent seen any head and shoulders above it.
Dragonelite is concerned that DICE is pulling a Crysis 2 scenario. I simply pointed out that I haven't seen any bold claims by BF3 staff yet. All they did was publish their technical findings. ^_^
Bold claims have little to do with how well or poor a version can turn out though
Exactly the situation C2 got into. My point was DICE didn't make any bold claim and hence not in the same boat as Crytek. They simply published their technical findings.
Until I see an official link I simply don't believe it.
Don't believe in what?Until I see an official link I simply don't believe it.
If you're basing who's wrong on finding people disagreeing on the internet, then to you everyone is wrong. Welcome to the internet where many people disagree with each other.
Games aren't really distancing themselves these days IMO and you can easily find people who disagree with other people on what they currently think is "the best looking" game. Me? I've said it before, I don't put single games on a pedestal, so there is no clear winner for me. I just see certain games as "one of the best" for specific reasons where I may see other games in a similar way for other reasons.
I think you missed my point, so I don't understand the point of soliciting other opinions. It's not like opinions prove anything in the end anyways.
What I am trying to say is the result of every game's presentation is an amalgamation of art and tech. Doesn't change the fact that I can think highly of C2's presentation where others (like you) obviously don't.
In the end, my point remains, it's all a matter of opinion and there really is no wrong answer.

It depends on how you approach the communication.
They may felt pressured to show the PC footage as console footage because the CEO set up the high expectation up front (and the console work is not done yet). Crytek has finite resources. Whatever they churned out will also be limited by time and resources.
* "Speaking to gamesTM as part of a round table on the future of games, Yerl stated, "I think that there is not much more possible on the 360 and PS3 at this stage. We’re already using a lot of squeezing tricks and smoke and mirrors to get the maximum we can out of the hardware. We’re pushing the boundaries already. With CryEngine 3 I think going forward we’re going to require a new generation of console hardware"
