New BF3 (on PS3) hand on preview by Takahashi I spotted. Pretty negative preview.

I hate to criticize the guy but Takahashi's writing is so bad Really couldn't force my way through his Xbox books because of that. Or I guess he just writes to an extremely casual audience.

He's describing his experiences for the Alpha preview. Sounds reasonable so far. If you have been in Sony's MP beta, you don't just get slowness and muddy look (R2), you also see crashes and floating objects (Uncharted 3).
Comparison with CoD is interesting for me. Wish he had describe more than just framerate. The destruction probably takes time to understand and exploit. I thought BF series have vehicles ? Are there lots of tactics involved in the game like KillZone 3 ? etc.
Comparison with PC is also informative but he should have mention the PC specs.
Hopefully DICE has time to patch in Move support later.
ok that's it...if BF3 does not look at least as good as Crysis 2 on consoles (I only care about multiplayer), I'm voting for a new generation to start.
I refuse to go back to PC gaming.
The preview just reeked of him being ill-informed, which does no good for the reader if they know as little or even less than he does. Like you said, he could have given some context between his comparisons of the PC and PS3 version, and he made it seem that as bad as he thought the ps3 version was (comparatively) the 360 version is likely to turn out even worse (I too think it'll be the worst looking of the 3, but I wouldn't tell the reader that without seeing it first). Granted I didn't see the ps3 version in person like he did, but what little we did see, it looked great IMO.
Also, not sure about KZ3, but there's more tactics in BF series compared to KZ2 at least.
I have faith that it'll look as good if not better than C2, but that may just come down to artistic preference.
Well, the publisher will have to bear some responsibility for not prepping the press enough. They chose to invite venturebeat to the Alpha preview afterall.
KZ3 requires more tactics than KZ2. ^_^

While I agree to an extent, I actually think the author should be the one to bear the responsibility of having an idea of what he/she is writing about.
As for KZ3, the only thing I've heard is it's more run and gun than KZ2, which sounded like less tactics, but I haven't played it yet. Loved KZ2 MP when I played it some a couple years ago, so I'm happy to hear KZ3 requires more tactics. Should really pick it up soon.

According to Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz, channel checks "indicate that pre-orders are roughly comparable to those of Call of Duty: Black Ops last year, which has gone on to sell over 20 million units".

Better run a tight demo to carry the momentum further. ^_^
