Midway has no love for 360

Does anyone have any love for Midway these days?

I mean they've been keeping a low profile for ages, they're not exactly a big player anymore.

They're with Viacom now, isn't it?

It thought they were aiming to become quite big with Epic.

not surprising. many devs won't release games in time for launch. midway happens to be one of them. this goes for all new systems. I would be surprised for any company to announce full exclusivity at this early stage like what Factor 5 did.

actually Midway has been on a roll for the last year or so. they have released great titles including the RPG of 2004(Shadow Hearts Covenant). Future titles look promising.
psi-ops was good as well, unreal chapionship 2 was solid, and the arcade treasures series are great if you are into retro gaming.

i think part of the reason they've teamed with epic is because of EA. many midway games ran on renderware, but with EA buying criterion, every midway sports title (blitz, hitz, slugfest) gave money to their competition. i wonder if blitz: the league runs on unreal technology. it's a pretty decent step up graphicly from previous midway sports titles.

don't forget The Suffering. that did well too. also, the ever so popular MK - though personally, I'd rather have a real fighting game. 2004 was Midways best year. the may even do better this year and with the coming generation.

i actualy enjoyed mk:deception. the fighting game itself was *meh*, but kombat chess was a blast. especialy because the combo system is so ridgid and uncompromising it always turned into a button mashing minigame. MK party, lol.

yup, the mini-games are a great idea. I hope more fighting games will offer something similar.
but talking purely about the fighting system in MK, it is horrible. actually, many people concider it as funny. I have never met ANYONE that even remotely considers MK as 'brutal' or 'grusem'. those 'screems', the buckets of blood, the silly 'fatalities' and the rest all make it seem as the game is more of a 'dark humor' than serious.

like I said, BS thread title.

Here’s an excerpt of the interview in which David Zucker explains the reasons for their lack of titles at Xbox 360 launch:

I understand you want to balance both of those, but what are the tradeoffs of doing that?
David Zucker: We're certainly going to have games for the launch of the PS3, but we don't have any games for the launch of the Xbox 360.

Why?
David Zucker: [It's a] pretty small install base. To really maximize, to get the performance out of some of the games, it's going to take some time to do that. And we want to make sure we're launching high-quality titles. One thing to keep in mind is that by the time the PS3 launches, it is likely that Midway will have a few titles already on the Xbox 360. Will the Midway’s PS3 launch lineup be ports of Xbox 360 games or completely original titles that take advantage of the hardware? Time will tell.

Yeah, the topic is misleading.

BTW, talking about the quality of Midway game. Midway, recently, went from a craptastic developer/publisher to a decent one.
Games like The Suffering, Psy-Ops (Until the moment you reach the "ghosts", after that the game become pure shit), MK, UC2, etc..., are really good.

I'm surprise to see Midway doing quality titles, seeing that they, like THQ, Acclaim were synonym of shitty games a few years ago.
THQ is still a mixed bag, Acclaim is down under and Midway is doing good. Things change.

How on earth does that make me a f-boy? :?
Sorry man, I guess I misunderstood you. I thought you meant it was strange they would have time to make launch games for PS3 when they wouldn't have time to make launch games for x360. Heh, sorry for the confusion. :)

Huh? I've been called a f-boy for some dubious reasons before, but this time seems the most ridiculous of any!

My question was why wouldn't Midway provide launch titles for XB360 but they will for PS3, especially if they're using an engine that runs on both platforms.

The answer as I twigged was that they feel they haven't time to meet the launch window for XB360. By the time they've finished their games it'll be launch window for PS3. Hence the explanation of their statement.

How on earth does that make me a f-boy? :?

The way you wrote "that makes sense!" with a "!" could very easy be mistaken as sarcasm. I was sure you where being sarcastic until I read the rest of thread.
