Microsoft Gets Into Chip (CPU) Design

I wonder what their approach will be in terms of chip design...
Will they continue on doing multiple cores of the same chip or will they do something similar like cell(one main chip plus helper chips)...?
Or do something like what AMD/ATI is planning... CPU and GPU in one chip.

Hmm, some PS2 games featured voice-recognition already.

VR was hyped a few years back. When the PPC came out, people thought it would result in big advances in VR but it never came to pass.

VR applications never sold that well and even integrated into OSes, it wasn't used that much. I think people felt funny "talking" to their computers.

People thought the big win would be that speaking would be faster than typing.

But a lot of people can type about as fast as they can speak (and faster than write by hand) without straining their vocal chords.

Sounds like they're straining to find applications to justify new chip designs. Isn't competing against the PS4 reason enough?

isn't a design with any potential technological advancements with also an eye on controlling the features and costs to produce enough?

no need to strain.

I dont agree I think that to the date there hadnt been almost any (consumer) aplication that used VR good enought to make it more than gimmick, althought it seems some DS games make very good use of it.

Anyway if they can do things like the ones that is supossed to do in the UT07 then it think it would be very popular.

It's not their first effort, they had Talisman.

If it's a new CPU, well, how about a chip that can natively execute .NET IL assembly?
