Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

Just reading about the paid FOB mechanic rage on GAF. So as I understand it in the single player game you get one 'free' FOB which dictates how many missions can be undertaken simultaneously and thus how many resources can be gathered and quickly R&D can be undertaken. And to get more FOBs, even in the single player game, you have to pay Konami money to buy coins to buy them?

Anybody who's played it, is one FOB fine for the single player campaign? I know that grind is subjective, just after a feel for this. Really only interested in single player, I've no interest in the multiplayer at all.

Now 'fess up, how many animals have you floated?

A lot...oh you mean in-game, well unfortunately I have not my PS4 with me now so I will be able to play it next week ot the week after that :(
I bought the game day one anyway because I am HUGE MGS fan.

I thought we could obtain MB Coins playing normally.
Infiltrating other players' bases looked fun to me based on the E3 video, I really like the idea of challenging other human players.

It seems not and it seems this wasn't known to reviews at Konami's review event.

This aside, I only care if it materially impacts the single player game. If this means hours of unentertaining grind that may bother me, if not then I don't care. In terms of cost $24 was mentioned by several GAFFERs for the cost of the first paid-for FOB, I think there are 5 or 6 secondary FOBs in total.

I've listened to a few gaming podcasts and, naturally, they're all talking about MGSV. Controls aside, and I will give Ground Zeroes another try, it's a game type that hugely appeals. And now the story telling insanity has been paired back, I may spring for it.

Forget GZ, that game does not even give a taste of what Afghanistan has on offer.....that was a few options.....this is completely open and organic...you just never know what will happen !
Throw GZ out of the window and get this you bugger ! This deserves it over any game out there.......its so fresh it takes time for the mind to actually grasp it.

And I mentioned a zillion times, use shooter controls like me, no difference between that and COD.

You lie! You don't have a zillion posts!
I have.....you can't see them cos I made them all in stealth mode ! And they all have secret messages proclaiming the greatness of this game within them.

And being serious for a second, GZ is absolutely no taste of TPP. This is totally different. GZ is still a MGS game, this is an amalgamation of a lot of stuff thrown into a first true open world stealth setup ! Once u start accomplishing stuff in it, it gets addictive ! You will love it !
Everything is unpredictable from what I have played till now.
But prepare to be surprised and see true old school craziness from Kojima. Like my niece said while watching a particular part: ,"Kojima has gone crazy !" True in all fun ways

Form what I saw prices go from $5 for 550 MB coins up to $50 for 6000

From what I read you can infiltrate other players' FOB to speed up your resource gathering process but I red you can unlock everything just playing the normal game, it will just take more time.
If you want you can read more in the official manual, no spoilers there: http://mgstpp-app.konamionline.com/manual/ps4/eu/en/index.html

The manual doesn't say how toget MB coins in-game even though Konami said it on Twitter :???:

EDIT

OK from my understanding MB Coins are real money only, I you don't use those then you will use your GMP to build FOBs .

I've just completed the first chapter, now i see a screen:

Installing game data... Do not turn off system. 51489 seconds.

?

You got to be fucking kidding me. And the best thing is, the damn second counter is counting upwards?? No button to cancel and do something else?

OMFG

EDIT: never mind, seems like my download was stuck. As for the game. Two words:

Holy ****

Amazing.

Its the stealth game of your dreams uptill now. Feels so unfamiliar that I have no idea what will happen next.

Also, built a sneaking suit but everyone keeps dying around me  , so unpredictable !

BTW, alarm got raised in one of the guard posts and they started mortar rain on me....I ran around to their back, they all left the post to find me and I looted the whole post and vanished ....Trololol ! :p !

I'm not that far yet (I gave up waiting for the download to complete, even though I tried to avoid this explicitly by leaving my PS4 on while I was at the office in the hope it would download the entire game...), but I have to say, my god the art-direction and overall directing is superb. Kojima is a god. It is still by far my favorite franchise over the past ~17 years. Can't wait to progress further tonight!

I played the prologue yesterday evening (until reaching Afghanistan). And... what the hell did I play there. Quite trippy ;)

One nitpick I have is the constant camera shaking in the cut scenes, it just gives me a head ache trying to follow certain stuff on screen.

Ok, I've ordered this stupid animal balloon game. It should arrive tomorrow. :yep2:

Great, I'll make sure to infiltrate your FOB for first :sly:

BTW I think you should play Ground Zeroes in preparation.
Probably you won't be able to S rank all mission, it's a bit time consuming but still you will get some assets for TPP.

Oh and if you log in TPP every day you can get extra resources as well.

I love to Fulton stuff. I'm trying to figure out the whole upgrade and resupply mechanic. I managed to create and air drop in C4 in the middle of the enemy bade without any alarms. I'm good. I still suck at stealth, I end up going full Rambo at some point. I love how the sand storms can be used to relocate or get away. Is there a way to upgrade or replace the silencer in the field?

I hear that sneaking suit is a must [without it sneaking close to enemy soldiers is very hard], but thankfully, GZ save gifts player with such a suit.

The amount of emergent situations happening on the field is staggering....too many stories to remember ! Class game, think will go down as the best ! But I just keep playing side missions in the open world so haven't progressed in main story much.

Does the whole "game" part of game take place in rural Afghanistan? Been watching a lot of streams and it seems really samey as far as the non QTE type missions go. Also, really low poly and sparse landscapes plus the character animation is often pretty janky, the horse especially. It's kind of jarring watching this after Far Cry 3 / 4.

Oh man lost a highly skilled female soldier which I had extracted after so many tries is lost forever cos of a glitch... I turned off the game before the soldier reached the base, now the soldier is gone from the game and menu lists the mission as incomplete :(

Ok so I just played the opening level. What the fuck? No, seriously, what the fuck?

Actually, 'what the fuck' doesn't do my confusion justice right now. :nope:
