Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

And to think that I was about to cancel pre-order some time ago :nope:
I hope that against a human player/invader you can still play without the various HUD facilitations (enemy silhouettes visible through walls, awareness arrows, the crosshair, etc...)

Kojima what have you done?!?!?!

 How am I ever gonna buy another game? The amount of stuff that can be experienced in this game is simply staggering!

Looks really cool. I just hope all the stuff you can do on mother base will be of actual help. Strike that, I hope it'll be a damn near necessity. A lot of open world games let you dabble in all sorts of extracurricular crap designed to give the player a bit of an edge. Unfortunately most of the times these games coddle us players because the makers assume we're retarded and not because the games were ever any difficult to begin with. Every Ubisoft game basically works just like that.

IMO we are going to need to use MB IMO depending on how much they handicapped BB.
If it's anything like Ground Zeros then I say BB is going to need some toys to be truly effective.

Some missing lightsources in the distance but I wonder if this is due to more aggressive LOD. In GZ you could see some lightsources pop in on the PS4 as the camera zoomed in or came closer

One of the worse looking game I've seen recently for sure, even the PC version don't look all that:(, but Fox engine definitely has potential tho, once we ditch the last gen versions the next MGS would greatly spearhead MGSV in visuals. I also hope they would include a 30fps toggle for improved graphics.

Weird to me how Konami up and decided to full on Digital Foundry it's own games on it's website in recent times, but I definitely like it.

Also a case study in expectations, from "900P?? weakling Xbox!" to "900P nice" because it was expected to be 720. But never thought I'd see the day people were cheering 900 on XBO, shows how expectations have changed from the beginning of the gen when every 900P on XBO was a huge scandal.

There was a fleeting rumor XBO version was going to be 1080P though (along with PES 16, which did happen).

Weird, sometimes more lights on the ps4 version in the distance. Or are these red light going on and off, and PC shot was captured right when they're off?

You mean gamespot is incorrect in reporting the game running at 1080p (updated today)? I need more sources here.

Edit: nvm. Yes of course they are incorrect. A proper litmus test would be everyone going psycho on Gaf. Tweet confirms 900p up scaled to 1080p. Translation incorrect.

I think cheering for 900p on X1 is because GZ was 720p, so 900p is an upgrade. It's the same engine, so it means that something improved to get X1 to 900p from 720p.

Worse??

The game does show rough edges due to its 1080p60fps open world(the only one around, mind you) but it still manages to look damn photo realistic at times, especially during Day TODs. Play the side missions in GZ and prepare to have your jaw dropped at the photorealistic daylighting !
I am dying to play this, especially after so many 30 mins videos and still features yet to be revealed !

Indeed, I just fired up GZ this weekend to get myself warmed up before TPP launches and I was instantly awed. And the best thing is; everything runs so fantastically smooth, I'm not sure what benefit a few more lights or better draw distance would give. Looking at the PC screenshot, I fail to see what makes it a better experience over a supposedly 30fps attempt. One of the greatest things about MGS is that it's a game still focused on being a fantastic game. It might go for realism in its portrayal of characters, lightning, the world setting etc, but the MGS have always had their focus on gameplay mechanics. Even how the A.I behaves, isn't to be ultra realistic, it's about being fun, a bit wacky etc.

60 fps is awesome because it feels great to play, move around, instant responses, crouch, run, jump, pull up your weapon etc.

And it looks absolutely gorgeous and the possibilities while playing the game seem nearly endless. I can't wait!

I also fired up GZ after a long break. Game is so good.

Now is a perfect time to save all prisoners from all side missions [and named enemies], gotta get TPP motherbase staffed up. :)

I need to try GZ again but both times I've tried to play it before the controls have made me want to throw the DualShock4 through a window.

I'll play with alternate control schemes because I desperate want to like this game and I know if I can get past the controls, I will.
