Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

Yeah, I read that a couple of days ago and went "how does this become a problem during the development of the 10th MG title"? Seems a little odd for Kojima to work under such arrangement for so long and then Konami gives him Silent Hill to all the sudden go, "You spend too much money!!!".

It doesn't make the situation any less unusual, strange or weird as it already appears.

I suspect some kind of jealousy going on in Konami's management body. Kojima was the most talented and most known among all executives and probably the only person who had his own studio within Konami. I wouldnt be surprised if some saw this competitively and hence wanted to get rid of him. The long development time was probably the excuse. Except from MGS and PES every other big budget game in Konami were going downhill. Everyone else was not meeting sales goals. The immediate transition to mobile games and the removal of his name in every project he worked on tells me there was potentially some kind of incompetence of others to maintain Konami on a high profile and didnt like his success.

And I am still very pissed that an awesome "secret" event that was going to happen in my country got canceled because of his departure. I was going to see him in real life :(

Thats a bummer.

That being said, I recently read that him and Toro are back together collaborating on a new project.

All i am really worried about is the future of MGO if Kojima ain't around for it to prosper. I am afraid it might die off quickly. It was really sad when MGO from MGS4 was closed down. so much fun, so many memories !

Speaking as a huge MGS fan (earned my Big Boss Emblems and all that jazz), I never thought Hayter was actually all that good. A big issue was always the script of course. After all, MGS characters never talked like actual people. Still, I always thought the gruff voice sounded incredibly forced. Kiefer's gruffness is entirely effortless on the other hand. It's just what he sounds like.

Sure, Kiefer is better no doubt. But I've been playing MGS since the PlayStation days and that gruff voice of Hayter is still stuck in my memory and IMO belongs to MGS as much as all the dialogues, the wacky humor, even all the cutscenes. I'm a nostalgic fan. :(

IMO - it's a bit like not liking a persons actual voice-acting. Some might be better, some worse, but IMO Hayter = Snake.

Hayter sounded better in MGS1 and 2. Cant remember how he sounded in 3. But in MGS4 I am pretty sure he destroyed his vocal cords. Indeed he begun sounding like he was putting effort. I believe 4 had the worst voice acting of all (not talking just for Hayter). I prefer the new actor too

Even though in MGS4 he sounded rough, there was a story explanation to this.

But there was NO EXCUSES for Peace Walker. Hayter sounded very bad there, and some lines were delieved so bad that I alternated between laughing and disbelief. I'm glad he was kicked out. BB in MGSV is now older than any previous snake Hayter voiced, so I don't mind the switch [and old BB in MGS4 had a different voiceactor anyways].

In the Japanese version they kept the same voice actor for Snake.
The reality is that Kojima just followed the strategy of many modern games which is s to hire a hollywood actor and hopefully in the process give the game more visibility.

I don't like Keifer, simply because I can't tell when its Snake speaking ! I can't help it. Hayter's voice was instantly recognisable in all the babble, it was epic, it felt like a unique legendary voice. Sutherland, not at all. Just another voice. I have difficulty telling when its Snake saying something in these trailers and that kills the involvement for me.
