I think it will overshadow the Second Coming of Christ to the world. That, or it will absolutely such and Sony is a horrible company.

Welcome to the Console Forum, and remember to leave all shades of grey and rationality behind you. :p

(Sorry, but the place has been getting buggered up again, so I'm testy. Maybe it's a seasonal thing?)

Confirmed for PS3? Which source states so?

this is what ign sais:

ps2.ign.com[/url]]November 10, 2004 - Konami revealed promising results for the first half of its 2005 Fiscal Year today in addition to confirming the existence of several of its upcoming videogames. The most notable revelation, of course, was that preliminary work on Metal Gear Solid 4 has already begun -- though the system, release year, and creative team behind it was not revealed.

If the system is infact still open and unconfirmed, could the timing be indeed indicating that it could be for PS3 in 2006? Or could it be heading to Xenon similary to when MGS2 was in development for PS2 and launched about half a year after the consoles release?

BTW; cthellis42... icq no more? :)

MGS...
like RE...
is a series that should know when to stop...
or start anew...
or at least take a very, very long break.

As long as each installments remains a very polished product, I don´t mind. We have seen what? 3 games in 6 years? I not only would welcome a MGS on PS3, I demand it.:D

MGS is a very special series, it has a personality that no series has been able to even come close to.

Ditto. Haven't played MGS3 yet, but at this point, it seems no less polished than MGS1/2 - so of course I'm hoping to see a continuation on PS3. If it's a MGS game or not though - I'd anticipate anything coming from Hideo Kojima for sure!

I think u're talking about the whole MEtal Gear series... If it matters, at least this is a series that always renewed itself, unlike the RE series which still has the same controls the first game had, 10 years ago... :devilish:

I am so looking forward to see Konami's next gen offering. They did very well with utilizing this gen's hardware (tech&art wise).

Ditto, from MGS to the ZOE and SH series, they've made little old PS2 shine through its lifetime.

The first thing they'd have to do to get myself interested in the series interesting again would be throwing out all this pseudo-metaphysical crap; or at least hire some *good* writers who are able to embed these elements into a story without them being cheesy / preachy / heavy-handed / inappropriate etc. Man, almost everytime I listened to one of these codec-conversation I feared that my brain is gonna implode. After Twin Snakes (which I had to stop playing after the Ocelot fight because it was so unbearable) I literally swore an oath never to touch a MGS-game again.

Having said that, where else can you read 'classic' lines such as "The important thing is that you choose life... and then live"?
And people call this 'mature storytelling'

All i can say is that when i first saw the bridge and boat realtime intro cutscene in MGS2, i was in heaven. That was the first time i saw what "next gen" was. Not "next" now, but you get my point.

For me it was GT3, the amount of screenies and movies I had seen before MGS2 kinda ruined it for me... since then I haven't read much about games until dats before their release.

For me it would have to be MGS2 as well. I remember when the E3 trailer 90MB trailer was shown on IGN and I downloaded it onto my old laptop. After many hours of downloading (I was on dialup back then), I finally had it around 2 o'clock in the morning and of course I watched it. I was blown away... the art direction, the soldiers coming down the stairs, their infrared goggles, the helicopters... it was simply stunning and above anything I had imagined. It was simply too good to be true.

Thinking back and at the moment, few games really excited me like Konami did. First with MGS2, then later with ZOE2 and now with MGS3. A few other games that really floored me were GT3's wet track at night and GT4: Prologue as well as Jak and Daxter and WipEout Fusion.
