Dimensions is pretty great. The more cohesive story telling really helps, the Lego Portal is used in some really clever puzzly ways, and the way TT mashes up the many licenses is a complete delight. Unfortunately, combat and platforming stink just as much as always. I really wished TT could at the very least be bothered to improve that aspect of the games. It sort of worked in the SW games because everyone had blasters or lightsabers, but melee combat has always been god-awful in the Lego games. The game can also become so visually busy it becomes impossible to parse the action on screen. Not a new complaint either, but it's definitely worse in Dimensions. Probably a side effect of the realistic lighting model and the fact that you have to pay attention to the Lego portal on your table as well.
