King Kong PC vs Xbox 360 version

It sure does. SM 3.0. That's pretty much just the X1800 right? I read G70 is not 3.0 compliant.

Also, score one for the next-gen disc size debate. King-Kong is at ~5GB uncompressed and installed.

A 6800 would work even -- the SM3.0 failure on Nvidia cards has to do with how the mipmaps are calculated, and not a deficiency in its ability to do SM3.0 stuff. I think that was the explaination I was told. I don't think MS would let that fly if this was truly the case.

Doesn't matter cause only Halo and Halo2 anre supported out of the box. Everything else must be downloaded anyways...
Emulators for the rest, yes, and what says really that they wouldn't have installed 'em on the kiosk boxes?

lol, anything is possible. seems pretty far fetched though don't you think? We don't even know of the BC files are available for DL yet...

Link to the thread? The 360 demo I played wasn't exactly smooth either - definitely below 30fps at the opening scene. Under 30fps with SLI GTX though is rather pathetic...
http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=260191 ...but it's german ;)

Here's the spec. of his pc:

  • Athlon 64 3500@2500
  • Corsair 2 GB@400
  • 2x Asus 7800GTX@480/1300
  • 300 GB/Raid 0
He didn't acutally mentioned any framerate just said it isn't smooth. Does not necessary mean it's below 30fps

Someone quotes 40-50fps at 1280x1024 but with occasional dips to 10fps on a single 7800GTX. He does have a dual core though, perhaps this game is very CPU intensive and mutli threaded?

Maybe the Walmart kiosk was running XBox1 version? (is it on the compatibility list?)

No no, it was the 360 demo disk, I played CoD2 as well. But i'm thinking the demo on the 360 demo disk was the XBox version.

The demo of King Kong on Xbox 360 is not even in the same galaxy as an Xbox game. That kiosk must have been setup incorectly or something.

I don't think so, After seeing the 360 screens posted, it's clearly obvious that there is a major difference in the Kong character model. I guess I could be wrong but it looked like the low res washed out one. See the Kameo 480/720 comparsion screens posted, the 480 shot still looks really good and has no loss in detail. Even if the kiosk was set up poorly I still think you would be able to tell the difference.

why??!! but why to humiliat the king of the carnivor T.rex?? if it's a spinosaurus then it would be perfect for me. jp3 really messed up the rex vs spino fight, it's so inacurrate. now i hav to see another fictional creature like the "over-exagerated" spinosaurus to beat the rex just for the plot..how sad. not getting the game.

i'll still watch the movie though as it seems quite intriguing.

technically it's aV.Rex I believe.

And what're you talking about? He doesn't get killed by any Spinosaur or whatever, Koong whoops ass on V-rex's though.

Kong is quite simply FUN AS ALL HELL. This game will literally scare the shit out of you, the creatures on the island are creepy, and running from a 30ft V-rex while he stomps 5 feet behind you is awesome.

I literally can't remember the last time a video game had me grinning ear to ear like that. It's more of a rental than a buy, but a GREAT rental.

Hey guys, Just wanted to say I spent a good part of the weekend downloading Gamer edition and finally got to play it last night! WOW! Especially the opening boat sequence. Great water effects! I managed to get upto the centipedes before calling it a night. its a blast to have Jack Black following me round - If only There was a tenacious D subgame where they air fight a t-rex.. lol. Anyhow - i found it interesting to read about the performance of the SLI rig. Its very smooth on my system, COD2 - im pretty happy suprised and pleased at how my rig compares to an x360

:???: You are "surprised and pleased" at how your rig compares to X360?! You must have spent no less than 15 grand for all that stuff!!! Or stole it.

And how much did you pay for that gpu... With those prices you should be more than happy.

Less then I sold my X800XTPE and my old pc parts on ebay for, so i'm actually up a little  It works out that every 3yrs or so I totally rebuild my system to the very best i can get/afford at the time. My first pc was a P300 with a massive 16gb hard drive. My 2nd was a P4.2.8 with 1gig of memory and a state of the art Matrox Parhelia card, lol. And just recently i've put my new baby together. Don't get me wrong, I love it to bits and am just starting to install games on it - but when you read on forums that people havesli rigs that are struggling - I didn't think my system would handle it.

I guess what i meant by my previous post was i was just suprised at how a decent pc can match a 360 - for now anyway. but especially with kong! My friends 6800 can run Call of Duty to pretty smoothly and his system isn't spectacular

It probably isn't accurate to say that you are up a little if you basically traded your old computer for the new gpu and on top of that you bought state of the art setup, I'd say you must be down a "little". Anyways pretty nice rig you got there!.
