Kane & Lynch 360 demo at Leipzig

I haven't played it or even seen it in action, but as described by Game Informer the crowd system in Assassin's Creed sounds heads and shoulders above this.

You can see a bit in the link in the first post, seems really nice and comparated to the one in Hitman3 (the makers of this one too) it is much better.

I gotta say I agree with scooby on this one, it does look nice, but I can't say im super impressed. The crowd in general is nice, but the interaction between them and the character was kinda not to be seen. Even when walking through the crowd they just slid to the side. I find dead rising more impressive in the respects that the crowd actually does something. The outdoor has some nice draw distance but from a gameplay perspective, I don't see anything new. But the game seems early so I wont nitpick, it does look nice so far compared to some other titles. :)

I'm not that impressed to be honest, the crowd is very unrealistic, they still have lots of parts where the guy is doing a full walk cycle into the back of someone else, the rapel stuff was ok, but any better than Rainbox 6? Can't really tell from that video.

Not sure what all the fuss is about...

Scooby. Scooby. Damn man SCOOBY!!! What are you talking about? That 3 minute video proved what Next-gen is all about. It's gets no better than that. Okay maybe it does, but you know what I'm saying.

The lighting, flashing strobes, 100s of people, repelling on exact google mapped buildings. What more do you want?

This statement cracks me up. "as described by Game Informer." Sure, that's real impressive.

The video was just frankly awesome. These people are basically out of it when dacing, they do just generally slide out of the way. What I liked was the fact that there didnt appear to be any strage clipping issues nor weird behavior. These people should be simply ignoring him while he walks through.

Really the only area I wasnt impressed with is one that's hard to tell from video and that's the animation, the lady who get her faced punched in didnt seem to have that smooth of an animation, but I'm sure that could be easily fixed up.

Perfect post. How can people find that video unimpressive?

Laa-Yosh, could you do your usual analysis please ? :p
Specifically what is difficult and impressive ? What are the challenges ?

Not much to analyze - very good artwork and a capable engine and that's it :)

Though I have no idea about the office building in Tokyo thing, the scale is just pretty amazing...

Shucks, yeah I like the outdoor scene too. It seems to open up new gameplay possibilities (although I'm not too hot about the gangster theme [again ?]).

One thing I kept wondering in the demo though was that when the guys were going down that building, there were people (atleast they looked like people) in the windows and they didn't even care. "Oh okay, that looks cool"

I thought the same exact thing.
It's like they werent even there.

The club crowd was really done nicely, it gave off a club vibe albeit it seemed to very inspired by "Collateral". Nevertheless there's much room for improvement: The player never bumped (in the literal sense anyway ;-) ) anyone. He didn't push anybody else. It would have been nice, if he used his hands to part the crowd now and then or if he had to walk "sideways" in order to squeeze through the crowd. I think that simple stuff would have improved the experience.

Noticed that one to. She fell like a scarecrow pushed over.

Alot more! The lighting was good, bu nothing mind blowing, and the crowd just doesn't do it for me, sorry. It looks like they took Hitman, increased the crowds 3 or 4 times, and added some minor crowd interaction physics/animations.

I'm not ragging on it, I just don't see why people are so blown away.

it's the detail, it's about every person look different from others, it's about how all of this is animated ed *illuminated*

you can talk in the same way of crysis

The lighting was good, bu nothing mind blowing, and the folliage just doesn't do it for me, sorry. It looks like they took far cry, increased the trees 3 or 4 times, and added some minor folliage interaction physics/animations.

Maybe we just need some better quality video because It didnt do it for me either. It was nice yes, but compared to other games, I really didnt find it super impressive. :(

it was the scale and quantity of characters and animation and such that intrigued me.

Obviously you are not going to see great technical (lighting, texture) achievement in a crappy ass video snippet like that.

Well the scale is pretty good, I'll give it that...but other games that come close have some pretty nice scale as well, so it just feels like more of the same. And like I said earlier about the crowds, I'm more impressed with dead rising's quantity of characters, and the fact the zombies dont just sit there doing nothing is probably more impressive in those respects. And like scooby mentioned, Assasin's creed as well. The crowd in this game just seemed to slide to the side when the character walked through, not even knowing he was there. Seemed to have a set dance animation and nothing else. When it came to him shooting, the AI just seemed to switch to..."stay away from the man with the gun mode". Not much more impressive than GTA's NPCs running away, except more characters. Again I think I would have a different outlook on the game if maybe I saw it in a higher resolution. But don't get me wrong, the game definately looks nice. I just dont see the "extremely impressive" parts right now.

I just wonder what you, not so impressed guys, wants from a videogame
stage a: in the disco
people don't dance, but some talks about relativity, others about politics ad economy
stage b: when he starts to shoot
some escapes, others calls the police and fbi, others drinks...

jokes apart, what do you want from a ia of a videogame?

and about Assasin's creed, would you please link me the video with the impressive crowd in realtime?
because I've missed this
thanks

I agree with this guy. Maybe it's the quality of the video that some people aren't liking. I've never seen a club scene done so well in my entire life. That alone is good enough for me.
