Japan Sales Thread *renamed

Wow, pushed all the way to the third floor...

What's on the second floor?

Here's a quote in the comments section for the article...

I was in this Sofmap last night when they were moving everything around. I was pretty surprised, and figured they were just moving the PSP and PS3 stuff up to the second floor, which had been the home of used Sony gear.

Nope, they sent them to the 3F ghetto.

3F in that Sofmap has been home to all NIntendo and MS stuff, along with used PS1, any Sega stuff they had laying around. The floor is accessable only by a narrow, winding stairway or a too-small elevator. To put Sony on that floor speaks volumes about the games market in Japan.

That said, I'll enjoy the more convenient shopping for my Nintendo gear, and am glad used Sony stuff is still on 2F, which has a nice, normal staircase going up to it.

Oh dear.

Oh dear.

Well, with Wii recently selling ~8 times what ps3 sold last week, it makes sense.

It is a bit surprising they wouldn't move it to the 2nd floor, but I guess they have to have somewhere to put Wii stuff. Afterall, DS needs the expansion room on the ground floor. :p

lol used sony stuff is a floor lower than the new sony stuff? Well it makes a bit of sense though. ps3 and psp together dont even sell as much as wii alone does. Not to mention software. Having better acces to the most populair stuff makes them more money.

Minna no Golf 5 is a blast.

I'm not a golf game expert by any means. This is the first MNG game I have purchased. But I am very impressed by the physics and mechanics of the game not to mention the graphics.

I love the characters in the game. Not only are they very high quality, their animations and voices give them so much personality. My favorite character is this caddy girl who is like this country farm girl. Her expressions and animations are insanely cute! It's so silly but I love it.

Anyway, I think this game will have legs and continue selling well past it's first week. Mario Party 8 might have sold more units, but it's not regarded as a good game even compared to previous Mario Party games. MG5 is one of those 9/10 games that could eventually become a 10 depending on how good the upcoming down loadable content updates are.

It's quite strange that the MediaCreate and Famitsu numbers show such a large variance for the week in PS3 sales.

Ah ok ok... Stefan what are you trying to screw us up for! :p

Hah, you're too easy to fool, Carl :p

Nah, I saw that that week was missing in the thread. So I quickly posted it. It's from the week before Minna no Golf. First place was Konami's Powerful Baseball for PS2, which also took 3rd place with its Wii version. 2nd place was Wii's Dragon Quest.

Those numbers aren't about the same week as the Famitsu numbers, right? Otherwise there's a rather big difference.
Famitsu numbers: 23/07-30/07 vs. Media Create: July 16-22, so I would say no: They're not from the same week... ;)
