Lil media-create hardware update week ending 6/3 courtesy Cheesemeister@GAF.

Looks like things staying the same. When will the DSL ever run out of steam?

Yeah I stopped posting the sales charts until something significant change in Japan because not much left to discuss for now with Nintendo owning more than 80 % of the market each week.

So far for FM2 doing anything over there.

Wondering what Trusty Bell will do...

Forza2 wasn't even once in the Famitsu most wanted list. Chances for it causing significant impact were rather slim from the start. Trusty Bell, on the other hand, is currently in the list (I think about 650 votes last week). So it might at least increase sales by a few units.

When the DSL2 comes out. ;)

Actually, the DS hasn't reached PS2 sales levels yet. It will only have caught up in March 2008. What happens afterwards is the real litmus test with regard to expanding audience in Japan. This is going to be very interesting.

Posting from the PS3 browser1

Went to the biccamera in Yurakucho immediatly after I got off work and picked up my copy of Ninja Gaiden!

Today was a really busy day at the games section and there was a line of about 40 some people I had to get behind. It took about 15mins to get to the counter. I guess the reason for that is due to 2 factors. 1 normally they keep the Nintendo crowd outside in a separate line, but today it was raining they had to come into the main games section and crowd up the place. 2 there were several new releases including Trusty Bell.

I did see more than a few people in line picking up Trusty bell. They people I saw were just buying the game though not the sweet bundle. Indicating that they were existing 360 owners But the bundle xbox core comes with realkly sweet looking red face plate that is quite pleasing.

There were also a couple people picking up Ninja Gaiden. I also saw that they now have a PS3+Casino Royal bundle package in a special box. That is something new. Will it affect PS3 sales, I don:t know.

Media Create Hardware Sales for this week are...

DSL 117,193
Wii 64,529
PSP 24,711
PS2 11,097
PS3 8,776
Xbox360 2,533

From magicbox:

- Sony revealed that they received over 300,000 preorders for its upcoming PS3 title Minna no Golf 5 [HotShot Golf 5], the game will be released in Japan on July 26, 2007.

----------------

Would it cause a jump in PS3 sales in Japan?

Perhaps a tiddly little one ;). More importantly though, it'll elevate the incline of the sale curve. PS3's on a low gradient. With each quality release and extra feature the desire for the machine increases, which should push up the gradient. This is way more important than a game spike as higher sales feed back to promote higher sales.

I think it'll cause a spike for both PS3 and 360 in Japan, but the real question is will it last? We've seen quite a few games make a big splash on the first day only to completely drop off the top 30 the next week. It's important to sell well on the first day and also have staying power on the charts.

Don't know about TB, but considering NGS demo was downloaded 100K times, I say indeed good first week sales. No way they can keep up one more week though. Of course I expect NGS to pass TB next week, as if it means anything.

TB's out! This'll be a real litmus-test. Can they sustain sales? I'd have thought the existing user base would know and have bought the game already, so I'm skeptical sales will stay up. But it could be enough to attract a few more XB360 buyers over the coming weeks, if they see it and BD around a friend's house and decided to join in.

BD roughly doubled 360's sales after the spike subsided, went from around 1k/week to 2k. Maybe this will give another small bump, up to 2.5k/week or so.
