Is this guy incorrect?

Um, correct in terms of what?

The PS3 OS does hug a lot of RAM. As far as shaders go, the Xenos supports shader model 3.5 vs 3.0 on the RSX. Split RAM is imo an advantage because you get more much needed bandwidth.

I get the feeling he hasn't done his research... I had to point out to him the spilt up ram of the PS3.

And yes, that is my name there.
This post and thread is completely wrong for this board. We don't link to other board discussions. Especially boards as low-brow as that one, where the intellectual debate manages to scale up to the heights of sodomizing mums . If you want to discuss any points there, discuss them there. If you want to ask the same questions here, go ahead and ask them, but independent of the discussion you want to take that info to. ie. Your thread should have asked specific questions like 'is the split RAM in PS3 a disadvantage vs. XB360 unified memory?' or whatever. When you've got your answer, if you want to 'debate' it in that forum, go spread the word.

As it was, you linked to answers without linking to the proper questions, so it's impossible to know exactly what the person is supposed to be right about. I myself did not feel encouraged to read back through the thread and determine what technical points some people had copied and pasted from whatever technical forums in the hopes of looking knowledgeable. A forum such as that isn't the best place to learn anything (except perhaps colourful but generic insults). Whatever you read, ignore it. All the sensible technical answers are here, and the search function is your pathway to enlightenment.
