Interview with NCsoft about Sony partnership

There's no financial relationship between us...

But then he goes on to say that the products they are bringing to the PS3 will be exclusive - although they could develop different products for the 360. Does not compute!

I could be a very simple thing actually. Sony could have secured the exclusive games by lowering the licensing fee. From a certain POV this wouldn't be a financial relationship, as in NCSoft was paid for it.

Ahh, makes sense. Excuse my naivety. I don't suppose you know the "average licensing cost" do you?

Actually, thinking about it that cost would mean nothing to me unless I knew how it fitted into the bigger picture of revenue v. development.

I'm off to do some research.

Didn't really clear up much, as it were... Guess we'll be introduced to the products one at a time down the line.

So should we expect titles like Aion, Guild Wars and Lineage III to arrive at some point on the PS3?

*crosses fingers* :D

Such a bummer it'll be around 12+ months before we see any of their titles arrive on the platform. Oh well

What is this "Aion" Game ?

Can't tell much from http://www.n4g.com/News-90141.aspx

Using the latest version of the CryEngine, Aion: Tower of Eternity is an expansive new MMORPG by NCsoft’s Seoul development studios. In Aion, players are divided between those that are "The Chosen" and those that are "The Fallen." The Tower of Eternity exists as a gateway into the Abyss, and acts as a portal between dimensions.

This new MMO is set to release on both the PC and PlayStation 3. Check out all the latest screenshots by clicking the jump.

Guild Wars uses similar, and it's not really a bloom effect so much as a soft-focus. The primary point being they're not trying to be realistic and simulating realistic optical effects and doing a lousy job of it, but artistic. And it does work. Guild Wars without the pixel shaders looks pretty rubbish.
