Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

Nothing and probably only the Beta is going to be of any use. Then again it's probably pretty close, too.

These look somewhat better then the first batch... although probably the same one level.
And I really like the mood of the concept painting with the civilians.

But it's just another bullshot, that's clear as well.

by wonky do you mean having 2xaa on some objects but 0 on others? i remember geow and geow 2 do the same. something with UE3?

Might depend on their post-processing chain in conjunction with the MSAA resolve (e.g. non-linear tone mapping, alpha effects rendering). Or it might be only using MSAA on certain rendering passes.

It seems to be downsampled from 2560x1440.

edit:

Basically, looking at the helicopter wing with the most contrast or high frequency (dark next to bright), there appeared to be sub-pixel steps. Based on the image being 1080p, there seemed to be 4 actual steps for every 3 pixels, or at least that's the consistent ratio I got after some more checking.

1080 *4/3 = 1440

So does no one know the res of Reach yet? Based on that screenshot it looks like it doesn't have any AA at all.

It better not be a jaggy mess like 3 was.
