Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

I really don't see the point of a detail-destroying blur when they're rendering twice the number of pixels. :???:

yes

i think 1366x768 No AA
Thats very surprising.

I am trying to notice any differences in visual quality and they look identical in normal view.

The resolution difference is not noticeable unless someone actually zooms in and tries to count the pixels.

I couldn't see much difference either, which is maybe why they have gone with the approaches they have.

I would assume, though, that in-motion the lower resolution would hamper image quality?

yes no visible difference or maybe on the object motion blur but not present here

What's intriguing is that it actually looks blurrier on 360. If you take a close look at Kazuya's pants, the details are tangibly sharper on PS3. I know they screwed up like this in SC4, but we're talking about 1024 x 576 here. Things can't get weirder than this

yes

it's 1366x768 No AA i think

Seriously!?:p

If ever there was evidence of what a terrible addition those stupid "blur" filters were, this was it. 1366x768 is a pretty impressive rendering resolution for a console, but all counts for nought when you smother the image with vaseline vision.

Yes but the ps3 version  really wth going on namco & ps3 ? 1024x576p is terrible

Does that fit into Edram without tiling?

Yes, assuming forward rendering and 32-bit render target. There's actually a fair bit of "space" left in terms of resolution.

So they target the common LCD HD Ready resolution, so no upscale from the LCD.

Not quite... The 360 outputs 1360x768, so there will be minor scaling there. Also, one would have to be connected via the PC-resolution-enabled ports. That is also assuming they don't do some software scaling to 720p first ala Soul Calibur.

I'm not sure if this post will be deleted. I'm not saying that Namco choosing this resolution is a bad idea or a good idea but do you think part of the reason Namco picked this res is because of the MS TCR at the time when this game started development that once stating that games should be 720p? The difference in res made sense with SCIV because the games weren't that far apart in resolution. Since everyone is about parity now I would have thought that they would be the same res. Not complaining just wondering.
