There's another new trailer for Ratchet&Clank: A Crack In Time. The changes back and forth between cut-scene and gameplay quality are fairly apparent in this one I thought. Squashed video levels for one. Anyone want to have a go at it?

I agree. That's why I thought it'd be interesting to get some speculation and feedback. The pack is supposed to be out this holiday season, so hopefully we'll get some media soon.

Well, if the engine used for GoW 3 is an extension of the ones used for GoW 1 & 2, then for them it could have been a "relatiavely" easy port involving just replacing some data sets and whatnot.

I'm not sure you could then extend this out to BC for any other games in that case.

    Regards,
    SB

Santa Monica does not port this game. These two games GoW1 and GoW2 are ported by Bluepoint Games, which made Blast Factor for PS3's launch. Blast Factor was at 1080p.

Btw folks, since we have nothing to analyze, this discussion really ought to stay in the existing game thread.

Well the resolution pass to 720p on 1080p in different shots reading an older DF report.

....it looks so 4x to me, considering the jaggedness level isn't as staggering as some of the games Ive played.

i did notice some shimmering on the ground during motion, i think that's cause of the sharp ground textures (mipmaping and sharp textures have a way of conflicting with each other:???:)

1280 x 720 No AA with blur filter

The first Gundam game (Cross Fire) was 1280 x 720 4 x MSAA (some of the best IQ I've seen on consoles) running at 15 fps or something

thanks man, been wondering because the hd video seems a bit blurry, worry that it was sub HD or something, but now it make sense. Crossfire does have very clean IQ, even thought I never play the actual game, when I look at the screen shots I thought they were bull shots, shame that the frame rate is horrible. Gundam senki screen shots are all very tiny, but judging by the live stream, the game at least runs smooth unlike Crossfire, but I definitely prefer the realistic look from crossfire over Senki especially with the Gundam, guess you cant have it all.

As the full game isn't released, yet, it probably fits better in here:

Does the 'Uncharted 2: Among Thieves' Multiplayer Beta feature a 1080p rendering mode?

If yes, does it render at 960x1080 like the NTSC version of 'Uncharted: Drake's Fortune' in 1080p rendering mode?

Here's a capture from the recent Ratchet&Clank: A Crack In Time "Clank" 720p trailer. There's a fairly obvious mix of two different quality levels in that trailer, one is probably offline cut-scenes (high-quality motion blur, very crisp even in the 1080p video version) and another, lower quality level. The capture is from the latter. I can make more if necessary, but I can already say that it's hard to find decent near-vertical edges. This is already one of the best scenes for that.

    edit: direct image link

Does anyone want to determine the resolution for that image?

I'm guessing the new Ratchet & Clank game is rendering 1280x704 on a 1280x720 window.

previous R&C episodes was 960x720 (with little black border on top and bottom) with 2x MSAA and a complex proprietary merge method of 960x704x2 MSAA samples into a 1280x720 framebuffer with smooth result
