Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

Anyone with access to the Japanese PSN store that can tell us something about El Shaddai? Looks like sub-HD to me though the art style helps a lot the IQ.

Yea,me neither but whats with AA.They dropped it?

AA is going to be even harder to find considering the changes they've made to the rendering pipe. Even in Gears 2 it was pretty difficult to notice (usually edges against the sky or thin geometry in the distance).

Since when did Gears ever have AA?

Since Gears 1. They only do it for the static lighting & material passes, so it usually gets nix'd by any post-processing (bloom, DOF) or dynamic lighting. Any MSAA result is going to be incorrect as the much brighter lighting is applied afterwards anyway, so at best you'll see a very faint MSAA shade on the particular edge.

What changes do you think would effect AA? New baked GI?

Sorry, outside of the baked GI, faked god rays, and motion blur, I haven't really kept up to date on what improvements they've made to UE3.

The light shafts ( I refuse to call them otherwise until they're 100% not faked but I digress :p) would probably screw things up a fair bit as it's from the Sun to any environment object. Actually, in Bulletstorm (360), they do some really funky low resolution rendering for post-effects and there's a lot of artefacting when you have objects against the sky.

I'm not too clear on the baked GI causing a problem, as that counts as static lighting, but then Bulletstorm didn't have any MSAA either so...

Unfortunately, I won't have access to the beta to do my own "die-a-billion-times-while-staring-at-edges" routine. :(

MM, tasty shots from Infamous 2 a bit jaggy though. Really like the use of color and lighting seems somewhat brighter then the first? NPCs are also well modeled.

There are a few twins in there though, but hopefully there won't be too many.

You'd think that MLAA was a no-brainer, but either they need all SPU power for physics and such (which I can definitely understand seeing some of the user generated content stuff on youtube) or they're out of memory (which seems slightly less likely as they're not a multi-platform developer). My guess would be that SPUs are already being stretched.
