Interesting that they underclock the CPU to find out how low you can go and still get smooth HD playback

I personally hope that Nvidia is prodded to release something better by this. (Competition and all that).

There are previews of a GeForce 8200-based board floating about, it also looks to be quite a decent jump over previous generations, especially for HD playback, etc.

Depends on what you want. Mine was almost free as I build it of stuff I had left (has a 1ghz thunderbird). It runs fine for dvd and divx stuff. Ofcourse that wont play HD content. Even if you want that it doesnt have to be very expensive. q6600 dont cost alot of money, 200euro's at best. You can get very decent mainboards for 100 euro's, 2gb of ram will cost you 70 euro's at best and gpu's with HD content acceleration wont be more than 150 euro's either. So the basic hardware wont be much more than 500 euro's. For the rest it ofcourse depends on what you already have (case, psu etc) and if you want to do things like record etc.

I just got a 3450 or whatever it is called (ATIs low end 3 series) I will see if it solves my problem and send it back if not.
