You can't sum up NPD without mentioning attach rates, or the forgotten old world called Europe.

Oh, and aligned launches.

Half of them should be sub-titled "How Sony is doomed". I wasn't into consoles much last gen, but Sony must have killed a lot of people's dogs. :)

They killed Sega as a hardware company. :( :( :( And usurped the throne from Nintendo. :( :( And... I'm not sure what they did to Microsoft, but it must've been bad.

Yes, as the name implies, this thread is taking a poll as to what B3D members feel is the required number of threads a month - either hijacked or created - to deal with the super pressing issue of our day: namely, who's winning, who's losing and what do they need to do to win even more than now.

As many as it takes for posters to feel comfortable/good with their own consoles and more importantly, beliefs. :)

The next few major events I am waiting to see, in no particular order, are:
* EA and/or someone hitting jackpot on Wii (Will take sometime but the windfall should be magnificent)
* Wii looking better on HD (via upscaling or otherwise)
* Sony lowers its console price via better manufacturing efficiency
* Sony simplifies and integrates its software services better (like Apple !)
* Microsoft licensing hardware to other manufacturers to make
* Microsoft and Sony polish their living room strategy and implementation better
* Developers make money on all 3 platforms and be creative at the same time
* Some open standards being established

Gamers spend way too much time arguing about whether or not Home is going to be huge. It's certainly part of the story, but the flagging online service has nothing to do with the life and death of the PS3 as a system that can play great games. It's the same thing with the sales numbers; people like to know how products are doing, and looking at sales data tells us much about where we're going and how fast we're getting there, but you can't miss the forest for the trees—neither of these two things affects the fact that the PlayStation is absolutely ablaze with brave, new, exclusive games.

well Carl, it's actually been an evolution to this point...

after 2 years of this:

now that PS3 is out.. just watch out MS and Nintendo!
well at that price what do you expect
wii is a fad
MS is gonna die on the RROD
just wait for the next big Sony game
well at that price what do you expect
wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
RROD
well at that price what do you expect
wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
supply limited
RROD
well at that price what do you expect
wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
supply limited
well at that price what do you expect
wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
well MS is cheaper

we basically have now have this:

wow Nintendo is crazy like a fox
Ms did okay
Sony doesn't need to make a profit in this economy and will be just fine

so feel free to sticky the conclusion and we don't need anymore threads. ;)

:D:D:LOL::LOL:

We should make a sticky that has a bullet point summary of the argument and counter arguments and no one is allowed to start a new thread that covers anything on that list. NPD threads are so boring now.

Yeah, that would be cool. Or build an expert system with logical gates so everytime one thing changes (like the price of a console or whatever), we can see automatically what other arguments / conclusions need to be revised. :D
