Yes, as the name implies, this thread is taking a poll as to what B3D members feel is the required number of threads a month - either hijacked or created - to deal with the super pressing issue of our day: namely, who's winning, who's losing and what do they need to do to win even more than now.

By the way, yes this thread is tongue in cheek, so don't feel the need to be serious. ;)

Multiple answers are permitted as well! Within the humor though does lie a truism.

It did push me to this, yes, but I think about this 'topic' every time these threads come up, which is definitely a couple of times per month. What makes it surreal for me, is that literally, the exact same things get said every time. I'm going to start forwarding posts of mine to myself via PM so I have a library of posts on standby.

I suggest everyone else do the same! ;)

Hey, at least we're not that bad with the 'executives who have all the numbers we don't have don't know anything and don't get it not like we do!' arguments I see on other gaming-related boards.

Oh, this is the finest gaming forum out there IMO in terms of the financial savvy and acumen of the members. It's just more of an issue that so "attractive" is this vein of conversation, that nearly every thread turns to it!

It sure does. That's why I pretty much vacate the NPD thread. I'm sure we could script the discussions and automate the whole process, so everyone could have their opinions expressed without having to keep typing them out. We could just log which side fo the fence anyone's sitting and auto-draft a suitable response. If we were clever, we could actually script in a little more variety to the flow of conversation than we actually get from individual posting!

I voted for Sony to cut the price since I'm going to buy one soon :]

Either way, better to have a few crappy threads to keep the noise away from good ones.

We should make a sticky that has a bullet point summary of the argument and counter arguments and no one is allowed to start a new thread that covers anything on that list. NPD threads are so boring now.

You can probably script half of the consoles threads on B3D, they usually fall on party lines anyways :)

well Carl, it's actually been an evolution to this point...

    after 2 years of this:

now that PS3 is out.. just watch out MS and Nintendo!
well at that price what do you expect
    wii is a fad
MS is gonna die on the RROD
just wait for the next big Sony game
well at that price what do you expect
    wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
    RROD
well at that price what do you expect
    wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
    supply limited
    RROD
well at that price what do you expect
    wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
    supply limited
well at that price what do you expect
    wii is a fad
MS has no games this year
just wait for the next big Sony game
    well MS is cheaper

we basically have now have this:

wow Nintendo is crazy like a fox
    Ms did okay
Sony doesn't need to make a profit in this economy and will be just fine

so feel free to sticky the conclusion and we don't need anymore threads.

I personally dislike NPD threads, greatly. I do not see their purpose for gaming related discussion, since none of it really applies to any of us as gamers.

I can understand why people enjoy them though, I suppose.

Amazing how you managed to bring the insight of a typical NPD first-responder into this one too. Kudos.

It might be the finest board in terms of the level of the discourse, but we do still get gamefaqs meme passing now and press-release parroting every now and then.
