I'm pretty pleased with the shots. It looks like Halo, evolved. It's not amazing but it does look nice. It's a pretty game, anyway. So clean.

It's interesting the Gears controversy that even Bungie is now commenting on. That was my point with that post. The UE3 engine would have had some drawbacks, but the plus would be that it wouldn't fail to wow assuming it looked like Gears. If Gears was Halo 3 people would be like "WOW" just like they always are for Gears.

So I guess this game is fall 2007?

The other thing this does is point up what gamers really care about yet again: Graphics. That's the sole thing this game is being judged on, whether you admit it or not.

Another next gen game that I associate with Halo besides gears is Resistance. Resistance stylistically is a lot like Halo, far more so than Gears, you can squint and see Halo in it, so I've wondered hypothetically how Resistance would fare as the Halo 3 engine, the same as I have for Gears. What do you think of Resistance versus these shots? I think Halo 3 comes off pretty well.

Well Resistence is a launch game and Halo 3 comes out 2 years after launch and may not have as many players (that's probably a gameplay balancing thing though).

it's pretty clear that you don't know what you are saying and that you don't have Halo2 or an xbox at all
I can give you hundreds of screenshots that shows not only that this is not a n64-game (smells flamebait) but that this is unmatched by the most of ps2 games, I really don't want to derail this thread talking of halo2, if you prefer we can start a new thread

here we are talking of Halo3 MP scans/images, no derail, no downplaying, no flamebait
    please.

    Wow.

Now I really feel embarrassed that I thought that was actually serious.

NONSENSE!!! you get to play a MARINE with a GUN shooting ALIENS on PLANETS and inside SPACESHIPS. what could be more interesting than that? :D

ok, ignore that obvious flamebait. ^^; these look ok... i'll be looking forward to halo3 for PC in 2010 or so. and MasterDisaster, not to agree nor disagree with TurnDragonZeroV2G (boy do i not get that mouthful of a nick!), but if you think Halo 2 for xbox looks like the pics you posted... XD

Well, Drago works (and I've been using this name so long, I don't even remember where the hell 3/4 of it came from, no joke). Or my real name, Nick! Ha!

But how dare you not agree with my assessment that Halo 2 looks EXACTLY like an N64 game. I'm insulted. Do you believe me to have been overexaggerating for effect, or perhaps jesting? I was totally serious about that thing with the fox. In the same vein, I'll predict now that Halo 3 (unlike what I've said before), will in fact look a lot like a PS2 game when it's released. Like, a certain FPS where you could hear the same voice yelling out "Grenade" every time you chucked one at the enemy, annoying you to no end. Will also have same pop-in.

It will be interesting. If I understand it correctly, when Halo 3 comes out we may well also see Resistance Episode 2 ...

I thought it was something to do as well, possibly, with that Xbox Live doesn't use dedicated servers? It uses peer to peer.

Garnett was complaining about that on the 1up show tonight. Saying that ms needs to switch to dedicated servers on XBL Gold

Nope, because imo opinion judging by Halo 2, bungie are not that envelope pushing of coders. Or maybe it's the clean style of the game or something, I dont know. But if you read my locked Gear/Halo thread you will see I fully dont expect great graphics out of bungie.

That said it doesn't look awful or anything. It just looks like Halo. It'll improve of course too, although it'll be so incremental I wouldn't expect the improvement to wow us beyond these graphics at any point..

Definitely agree. For $50 a year, I wish that was part of the deal. But, of course, MS isn't going to add a bunch more losses to their bill, when only so many people care about it much anyhow.

Lol! I looked right at Drago and saw "Dragon", accursed brain trying to make sense out of things. Anyway, I know it's not nice to flame the console kids, so, by that analogy of yours, I'd imagine Halo 3 for PC will look like it's a C64 game. Only, like with Halo 1, I expect the shaders to be buggy. ;)

Xbox Live games use mostly listen severs, Batttlefield 2 uses dedicated servers, and I don't know of any games on Xbox live that use peer-to-peer networking.

No I meant that if it was like H2 then the balancing would be way off and the cooperation would be way down.

Most people don't know or use the term "listen server," and I think that's what he was talking about; all the peers for a game connected to each other, with one of them acting as listen server.

We play MOST games this way, but people don't think of the more technical term. They just explain it as it makes the most sense to them conceptually. ;)
