Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

What scares me are the sad fanboys of other consoles scoring the game with a one... or maybe no one likes the game, who knows.

Funny that most certainly they will eventually get their version too, since GTA3 and Vice city was converted for every platform capable of running them with the exception of the Gamecube.

But it shouldn't matter, right? In the end you will enjoy the game whether the "sad fanbois" will rate it a 1 or not. The websites, the ones that count, are rating it high enough for the "non-sad fanbois" ( :? is there a rating or something? A fanboi is a fanboi. All sad in my books) to be happy with their purchase...

Got GTA:SA today :)
Played it for a couple of hours, mostly just driving around and sightseeing (base-jumping from the tall skyscraper, wow!!... Found a gay club, at least I think it was a gay club because all the people on the dance floor were guys... played a galaga clone videogame.... bet on some horses and lost......)
Done a couple of missions too.

The first city is already huge, I have just about learned my way around in CJ's neighbourhood, and that's because I've not dared to venture much further yet.

Initially this feels even better than Vice City. Graphics are a little bit better, but not much. SA does seem to run smoother on average than VC, thoug there are occasional hiccups in frame-rate, but it's not affecting the gameplay much (to me at least).

Can't wait to get to other cities, and especially Las Venturas to play in some casinos.

Great game, well worth the hype.

Ok, I have it.. Its a fun game, but not worth a 9.9. Thats ridiculous for any game.

Still, its an extremely deep game, but it suffers from a few problems.

1) It gets repetitive, despite the extraordinary amount of different things to do. I know that sounds weird, but its true. It feels somewhat like the sims. Perhaps its b/c no one thing is truly fantastic, other than racing and shooting

2) If you've played the previous games, there is a definite similarity.. So the missions feel 'more of the same'.

3) I personally hate gheto culture, and don't find the characters very... Appealing (unlike Vice City). Yes thats somewhat rascist, but at points I somewhat feel like im routing for the Russians to drop a bomb in the entire gheto and remove CJ and his entire squad from this earth.. Permanently.

4) Again, a rascist comment.. But I need a translator sometimes. I don't know wtf they are talking about 10% of the time.

Seriously, I feel like im a petty criminal, instead of someone like Scarface or Tommy Vercetti.

Agreed, I'm just not intrested in them, they put in far too much slang and they all like like they are playing to a stereo type rather than being a real character...

... other than that the rest of the game is brilliant, not 9.9/10 but defintly in the 9's.

Ohh my, i love this game, and i'm not in general a "ghetto" fan.

It's clear that this game has more depth and long lasting value than it's little brothers. So much to do and so much to tweak.

I installed it on a harddrive and the load times are gone, perfect for those long stretches of playing and texture popup is pretty much gone. Btw, Rockstar uses the old trick, whenever you enter (and leave?) a building there is small animation , needless to say the loading starts the moment you hit the exit arrow, the animation is just to "hide it"

Holy shit, this game rocks, they undid everything that annoyed me about Vice city and went back to core gameplay at the center and built round it. Car handling for a start just feels more right, there seems to be a bit less traffic, and the roads are far better thought out meaning you can drive through the city without turning every 5 seconds.

I had a huge fear that the whole gang warfare/going to the gym/girlfirend/food thing would distract from the game, but it actually gives you something fun to do when a mission is getting annoying. Learning new fighting styles as well as improving your stamina are very worthwhile. The game gives you that old school sense of achievement that most modern games just don't give you.

Its slick round the edges but built on solid ground... what games should be in 2004.

UK Software Charts

* Two years ago Rockstar's 'Grand Theft Auto: Vice City' (PS2) overtook 'Metal Gear Solid 2' (PS2) as the fastest selling game in the UK, more than doubling the sales of Konami's title and breaking a quarter of a million sales in one week. It was thought that no game could smash the records so comprehensively again, but this week 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' (PS2) has rewritten the record books, more than doubling Vice City's launch week sales and breaking half a million sales in one week (575,156 units / £20.6m across all Chart Track panel retailers with estimated total market sales of 677,000 / £24.2m) - and these are the sales over just 2 days of trading (Friday/Saturday). Incredibly, only 10 PS2 titles have sold more in their whole lifetimes, such is the demand for this title. In 2002 Vice City held on to become the Xmas No1 despite strong competition - there is strong competition again this year so only time will tell if San Andreas can repeat this feat. EA's 'FIFA 2005' drops to No2 in the All Formats Entertainment Chart with sales down by only 4%, while at No3 Konami's PS2 'Pro Evolution Soccer 4' sales almost halve. EA's titles in the Top 10 all perform well with 'Burnout 3' up one place from No6 to No5 and 'Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005' re-entering the Top 10, up from No21 to No6 (due to PS2 version re-launch), while despite dropping from No5 to No9 sales of 'The Sims 2' (PC) were up 8%.

Holy shit!

And that's only two days in UK, I wonder what the numbers worldwide are.
