Getting a Sega Saturn soon...

My options:

1. Get a $150 PS2 with nothing else. Just hardware.

-or!-

2. Get a Saturn plus some number of games for around $100.

I'm very strongly leaning toward option 2, and most of my friends are backing that choice up. So I think I should go with that, and just wait for the next couple of PS2 price drops :)

So here's the purpose of this thread: Which games should I look for?

I'm already planning on getting Virtua Cop, Nights (what's the difference between "Nights" and "Nights into dreams"?), DOOM, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Sonic R... any other serious notables I should grab?

Shining Force.. And there was this one RPG, that I remember reading about years back, that was like the funniest RPG ever. So much humour, although I forgot the name of it.

I picked up a 2nd hand Saturn for $10 a few months ago. even got a few games for a dollar each.

$100 for a Saturn and some games seems like an awful lot of money unless everything is new and it includes some rare import games/accessories.

What megadrive said - that is just terribly expensive. Find some more reasonable friends :p

If you are spending tons of money on something like that, at least get some games that are worth it - say Radiant Silvergun or Panzer Dragoon Saga, which are both quite expensive.

NiGHTS full title included the Into Dreams part.

I would advise you to pick up these games:

Galactic Attack, Burning Rangers, Exhumed (Powerslave in the US I think), Duke Nukem (Death Tank is magic), All Panzer Draggon games, Sonic Jam, Darius 2, Darius Gaiden, Parodius, Sengoku Blaede, Radiant Silvergun, Donpachi, Dodonpachi, Strikers 1945 pt 1 and 2, Soukuygurentai (spelling?), Grandia, Thunderforce 5, Battle Garegga, Guardian Force, Cotton 2, Hyper Duel, In The Hunt, Baku Baku Animal, Batsugun, Bomberman, Bubble Symphony, Dead Or Alive, Dracula X, VF2, VC1, VC2, Sega Rally, Mass Destruction.
There's probably more but that's all I can think of just now.

My only choice for this is the Internet. Hence, the high price. I don't mind terribly though. It's worth it. And the $100 is for a Saturn with a lot of games. Hardware alone usually runs $20-30 online.

I'll probably also get it modded somehow and run some copies. (but you didn't hear me say that!)

I hear you loud and clear on that copying games business! Oh well.

Try to pick up Legend of Oasis if you're able to find that game, it's a rare gem that offers tons of gameplay. If you know Japanese look for a place where you can buy all three Shining Force 3 games, as they are some great RPG's. Shining in the Holy Ark is also another must have game. What else is there? There's plenty of games worthy of purchase as the Saturn had some great AAA titles released throughout its time. I might be able to get you a copy of Christmas NiGHTS if there's any left for the taking.

There's a lot of great games on Saturn that make it worth getting. But how are you getting Saga? It alone will run you over a hundred bucks.

It's smartest just to buy the hardware and get the games from newsgroups/FTPs/etc. Not that I advocate piracy, and I own almost all of my Saturn games retail (aside from Radiant Silvergun and Burning Rangers), but the alternative is just too expensive.

Anyways, definitely get all three Panzers, NiGHTs, and Dragon Force :)

Oh yeah, Dragon Force. How could I forget about that game? It's one of the best games to come out during the generation and has loads of replay value, it is definitely a game you must buy. Looks like I'm going to have to dust off the Saturn and get that one working.

I've still got an NES (actually my 3rd, kept selling them and then buying another one later). I tried to pick up Zelda: Link to the Past a while ago, but the used games shops all want like $20 for it. Yay emulators.

For $100, why not a Dreamcast?

Tag i know your a big big rpg fan. So if you can find panzer dragoon saga for under 100 i would pick it up. I have a second copy that i'd have to find . But if i can find it i'd prob be able to pass it off cheap. Its not even open yet. Its just either in storage here or down in florida.

Crusher: Saturn = cheaper. Also I've always wanted a Saturn, for whatever reason, and I don't know anyone who has one (well, technically I do, but he has it 'in storage' and refuses to take it out >.<). However I know four or five people with Dreamcasts so playing on those is no big deal, I can borrow one pretty much whenever I want.

jvd: I think PDS is the main reason I want one :p I played some of the start of it at Epcot while they still did Saturn displays. :)
