Gears of war behind the scenes

Again, I downloaded this same video from a few weeks ago. This video exhibits the same fram rate issues that any title would display on alpha hardware, just like the other videos made for E3 on this game.

the only other place i've seen this video was on ign with a lower res and was about a third of the file size .

Anyway yes its from e3 but wasn't shown on the floor it was part of the closed door footage and not part of the videos released pre e3 after the mtv show .

A sure hope a couple of X360 launch-window killer-apps (and graphical showcases) hit 60fps. If a standard of "visuals over framerate" is set early on there's a good chance few will bother to tune their games to 60 instead of 30 during the rest of the console's lifespan.

Ms is saying you need 60fps with 4xfsaa 720p to get released.

Even though I have been planning on buying the 360 to tide me over until PS3 anyway, that's a pretty big leap ahead in my book, and now I know which launch title to pick up first.

GoW isn't a launch title

No but should be avalible in march which should be before ps3 is released

Who cares about its age? Lots haven't seen it, obviously.

BACK ON TOPIC:

GoW looks bloody beautiful visually. Don't think there's any other games out there which are real-time, and due early next year, which can compare from my point of view, especially not on a console. Anyone disagree?

I think if UE3 is readiliy available, and this is the standard-level for 2nd gen graphics next gen, I'll be a happy camper.

did anyone catch the spike tv thing ? they were showing gears of war but i wasn't in the room , now they are showing next gen madden

What?? Are you serious? This is big news if true. Source?

I honestly can't believe any of the three will ever force 60fps, since double frame rate usually means less pretty in screenies.

ya it looked pretty damn sweet, it was nice to see it on a TV in real time, but they only showed like 30seconds and it all wne t very quiclkly.

much better colours, much more crisp and vibrant than the WMV file.

Never heard 60fps.

This is what I remember being Required:

-2x AA (not 4x if my memory serves correctly)
-16:9 widescreen
-720p
-5.1 audio

I also believe they must be Live aware.

that... and... support custom soundtracks :)

The only thing thats bothering me is the lack of color, its so gray, maybe its a part of the story. But I guess its expected, since the city looks to be destroyed.

Other than that its beautiful. They seem to have taking full advantage most features available through DirectX 9.

if your talking about the city videos then its because its the middle of the night , they talk about how the creatures come from under ground and thus like the dark. It seems like they've destroyed all the light sources so you have your suit lights and then any fire you can create to drive them away along wit hyour guns .

Man this is looking like the Xbox 360 Killer App right now.

Yeah the gameplay had some some framerate issues...

But they have almost a year before release (if not longer if it gets the delay to Fall 2006) and the world is already hyper detailed and the gameplay actually looks fun. I got a kick of the over the sholder shooting hehehe And based on the fact they showed media from GoW in Spring/Summer 2004 it looks like the game has been in development for a while (i.e. the UE3 demo stuff from last year had GoW media in it).

Seeing the video makes me laugh at the other thread where the PS3 fan was saying "GoW looked OK I guess" The PS3 may very well end up having better looking games (definately cannot count that out), but GoW is as good as anything we have seen in realtime. It is drop dead GORGEOUS!

  • I must agree, as much as I despise MS, this game is the one game that woudl make me even considering getting a pawned x360. On that note I will admit to trying a few times at that giveaway in august. The one where they will be giving away a x360 every ten seconds. The gameplay, experience and graphics will be.......................................................DROOL.

I will be very sad if all of next gen games does not run 60/50fps. 720p is nice but look what DVD movies can produce visually with less resolution, its more about AA and quality, not resolution. Sure, by demanding 720p is good for quality also, but if it is 30fps... even devil will be crying ;)

ps. DVD movies (and all movies for that matter) would be even nicer if running 50/60 screens/sec.. :) But that's too much for ask.

But do you honestly think every game on PS3/X360/Rev will run at 50/60fps? I'd like to say it will, but I don't see a hope in hell of it happening.
