Formula 1 - 2016 Season

As I said, we spent 6 hours average per day that includes subway from the hotel to the Garibaldi station in Milan, 30 minutes train to Monza, then waiting for taxi or bus to get to the track and then walk, 3 hours to the track, 3 hours back from the track to Milan.

This is the route from the station in Monza town, it is deceptive because the traffic is insane and the buses are full (or it was in 2013 from my sample size of 1 :D)

So, then.

Tragic as it was, at the time it was his error not anyone elses, he didn't slow down enough (One can only assume he was trying to make up time to the car in front), he ignored the warnings, maybe the team told him to, but they aren't driving the car so that's irrelevant, and old Bernie and the F1 group involved? Seriously stinks of a cash grab attempt.

Of course it was avoidable, by Jules himself.

I also think it was mostly Jules fault, but those that in charge of upholding the rules also need to share some of the blame. Look at this article in 2014 http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/113153?_ga=1.198350191.1995464169.1454059652
Basically the race director or someone that in charge isn't really obeying the rules them self by only giving 0.5 slower for double yellow. The rule is this
2.4.5.1.b'Double waved: Reduce your speed significantly, do not overtake, and be prepared to change direction or stop. There is a hazard wholly or partly blocking the track and/or marshals working on or beside the track.'
Basically they are allowing that accident to happen, which shouldn't happen in the first place if you use the correct interpretation of the rule.

Meanwhile Max starting in the last row.....

Anyway, from F1.com Helmut Marko interview about their decision to swap Daniil for Max....
Q: Jumping into Daniil’s (Kvyat) car and winning immediately: what does that mean for Daniil’s career?
HM: Well, there have been updates on the car. The fact is that Daniil is back at Toro Rosso - a very good midfield team. Daniil’s problem was never the speed, but the pressure he couldn’t handle. Now he can recover

If they want to be fair, they should swap Max with Sainz... :)

Anyway, I think Max is fast, but in Monaco quali, the car should easily reach Q3 even if he didn't get the new Renault engine. If he was under pressure to get a lap time (like maybe his car only ready with 3 minutes left, thus he only have one chance to qualify), then I can somewhat understand that, but he wasn't really under that kind of pressure at that time.

Amazing lap by Ric. He manages get a very fast time with SS in Q2 and top Q3. I really hope for Ric to win it. After last time in Spain and what he showed in Monaco, personally I think he is the driver most deserved to win the race. Anything can happen in Sunday though, especially with the report about the weather.

I felt really bad right now for Ric.... Not often you see a pit stop going as bad as that. A total failure from RBR. Max was... well, he was going really good until he again hits the barrier. Sauber... well, not only they don't really have money but they should have a clause where if their driver causing an accident that ruin the car, they have to pay more. They can't really afford that. Good drive for both the FI drivers. Good drive for both the McLaren drivers.
At least Ham got his share of good luck this time, probably using some voodoo to transfer the bad luck to Ros :p

No comments on Canada? Well I guess the race wasn't that spectacular.

Baku looks like it might produce a good race. The track looks good on tv too, better than most of the new circuits that are in the middle of nowhere.

Looks like even the non merc engined cars are going to have a good chance of getting some overtaking done if they get a bit of a tow.

Edit: le mans finally got underway as well. Too bad they started the race behind the safety car, they rain didn't look that bad.

Anyway being in Asia I will join in sometimes during the evening.

Well, Ham being again a team asshole in kicking out Ros against the team orders, while Ros being a stupid naive that lets Ham pass in Monaco following the team order.

Ros is not hard/asshole enough for F1 imo.

It seems that Ham is now on track again...I'll watch tomorrows race as it is a new track, but F1 really loses its coolness step by step. The other teams need to break Mercedes' dominance asap!

Luckily Hamilton screwed his qualifying in a major way, and has to start probably from pits (or can he keep his 10th spot even though they have to fix the car? even if he can, it's already a bad spot to start)

He will start 10th as they are allowed to repair damage with like to like parts. It's only for gearboxes, engines and changing aero / suspension setup that driver is sent to the back / pitlane.

Looking forward to the race as it can be very interesting and expensive!! (for teams)

Ye well, if you screw up your front wheel and all the related parts, don't you need to replace the suspensions too?

hammy also has a massive flat spot on the SS he used to set his Q2 time. I hope he crashes out just so i can hear the salty salty tiers of crofty.......

FIA gave them permission to switch Hamiltons tires, though they're only switching one

Don't like that rule, if driver flatspots his tyre during Q2 he should have a choice of sticking with it or swapping for another used set but with 5s pitstop penalty per tyre.

Ha ha ha, do you guys also get the Ham-Team conversation?? Comedy gold.

And Kimi also tried the "just say no/yes" trick

lol.

Race was boring other than that.

So we've had two boring races on street tracks which should produce great races. Still, there's drama with Hamilton getting unstuck in Baku and Rosberg extending his lead.

Let's see if Austria is any better.
