Formula 1 - 2016 Season

Yet the same people have congratulated that very move made by Nico as genius when no-one decided to turn right into him
The same move is genius when done on the way out of a corner rather than on the way in.

If Rosberg had a brake issue that meant he wasn't able to take the corner any tighter than that, he didn't have much chance of keeping Hamilton behind anyway because he wouldn't have been able to take a decent line through any of the corners. In that case he should have backed out of it and let Hamilton go. Rosberg was a mile away from the apex before he even started turning. As stated by former F1 drivers, the accepted convention is that it's ok to squeeze people that are behind you on the way out of a corner. Rosberg wasn't in front, and they weren't on the way out of the corner (yet).

I must admit I tought the move was very risky but what if Rosberg damaged Hamilton's car and not his own, went on to win the race then got called into the stewards office... That would have been what Toto Wolff many by brainless. However should Hamilton have backed off and let Rosberg win? The racer in him says never give up.

Great race and qualifying... The show must go on!

According to Lauda Lewis smashed his private part of Mercedes motorhome to pieces after Baku qualifying.
Lauda also said that Lewis was full of BS when he said his and Nicos relationship is better than ever and they've never respected each other more.

Lauda also said that the crash was Rosbergs' fault.

...And? There's no rules for the guy on the inside to take the optimal route, at the point where Hamilton turned to Nico he was already starting to turn and there was room on the outside. The latter incident was completely Hamilton, the one coming from outside the track, no matter why he got there, has to exercise extreme caution not to hit anyone

edit: only difference to all the similar cases is the fact that Hamilton turned right into Nico

There are rules. Hence Rosberg gets penalised. It was unsportsman like and Rosberg left no room for a racing manoeuvre just like how he crowded Hamilton at Barcelona. Rosberg does gave a wheel to wheel race craft and it's "out of my way or I will chop you in half". Glad he has finally been caught out by the stewards and made to answer.

Now if they only did the same to Hamilton who has been doing the same for years. But again, there was still room for Hamilton, if he hadn't just turned straight into Rosberg everything would have been fine, he would have still won, Rosberg might have gotten 2nd place, and no-one would be unjustly penalized like Rosberg now was. You can't blame the one being crashed into if there's room on the track, like there was.

Well, without the two drama soap queens...F1 would be boring as hell...so that is good.

I just wish that both learn to crash better, to really take out both at once...would make for an interesting race, as other teams are much closer!

I demand they play more Burnout!

He did, that's why there were 2+ car widths between him and the apex. Currently you're disagreeing with essentially everyone apart from people that hate Hamilton or love Rosberg. Stop trolling.

What has the space when he's outside have to do with him returning to track?

He didn't hit Rosberg coming back on to the track. He expected Rosberg to be sporting and leave the space for him to rejoin the track rather than squeezing him like he did. If you watch the video, Hamilton steers away from the track when he realises how little room Rosberg has left.

By the way, you do realise you've been spouting this anti-Hamilton rubbish here for at least 5 years now? It might be interesting if you said something new.

Maybe he should change something in his driving to give a reason to say something new? Getting constant free passes on clear rule violations doesn't help.

That entry was nowhere near safe, it's even debatable if they actually touched a bit there, the quality of the video is what it is

Or you could accept that you're not going to be happy unless Hamilton gets DSQ from every race and stop going on about it.

I've actually been saying this to you for years already.

I saw that a few days ago. Very impressive how quickly they process information.

In the video I linked to, you can see that while it looks like Hamilton touches Rosberg at reentry, it is actually the front wing coming loose all by itself at that moment that gives the impression of impact. But it was dislodged by their first pre-apex contact and comes loose on its own (well, due to scraping over the track after the damage obviously)

Thanks Tahir2 .... that says it all! The race stewards were correct in their judgement.

Is Hamilton starting to lose it?

Not so quick to post the clarification that's it's actually not true. Wonder why.....

“Lewis Hamilton did not in any way damage a hotel room or his private driver room at the circuit during the race weekend in Baku; and

“Lewis Hamilton did not lie about his relationship with team-mate Nico Rosberg.

“Niki regrets any misunderstanding caused by comments that have been blown wildly out of proportion compared with the casual context in which they were made.”
