Formula 1 - 2013 Season

Massa humiliating Alonso at the moment :devilish:
Kimi's pace looks great considering how much earlier he did his time compared to others

I think it's safe to say that the question over whether Red Bull Racing were sandbagging in preseason testing has been answered already.

McLaren's are nowhere. Both Merc's out. At least Lotus and Ferrari look like they are somewhat close to the RB's....

Grrr, Red Bull dominance sucks! P1 looked much more promising than P2

I am still optimistic RBR can be challenged

Nah it was only 3-4 minutes after Raikkonen's fastest in P1 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/21770644 (scroll down to 0226).

RBR look to be 3/10ths up on the rest. Ferrari, Lotus and Merc are all on near-identical pace. Sauber, Force India and McLaren are just under a second behind them on similar pace as well.

One glimmer of hope for the rest was Vettel's tyres looked to be in a terrible state during the long run, and both the Lotus and Ferrari looked good in that regard. I would guess a 3 stopper is on the cards for them while the other's might get away with a 2.

The odds reflect the changes in performance as well - Vettel has shortened slightly and Hamilton has replaced Button as 3rd favourite - http://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/drivers-championship

AFAIS, Vettel was cutting a corner on his fastest lap (all 4 wheels off the track). That might have gained him a bit, putting him at least closer to Webber. It's yet to be seen though if that area is allowed during qualifying or not - though from what I've seen, others werent' cutting it the way Vettel was. Sorry no link for this - but there's a video on Youtube (recorded from Sky's feed) that shows this.

I think McLaren are in trouble, going by Buttons words. Given that he isn't the driver that is too happy with a car that isn't behaving the way he likes it, I think this could be a black weekend for them if they don't get their car sorted by tomorrow....

BTW: Very impressed with Sutils pace, compared to DiRestas.

Yep Di Resta just isn't fast enough for F1. He was comprehensively beaten by Hulk last season and in the previous season Sutil scored more points than him. I expect this to be his last season unless things improve dramatically.

I missed Vettel cutting the corner but it was on his 2nd flying lap on super softs anyway - on the previous lap he was up almost 4/10ths going into the final sector but was held up.

The big hope for me is that his heavy fueled pace didn't look all that fantastic compared to the Ferrari or the Lotus. Also if Rosberg is only 3-4 tenths behind then you'd expect Hamilton to be level once he gets to grip with the car.

It probably won't be a lot different from many races last season where the RB was fast in qualifying but not quite so fast in the race. The Lotus appears to have genuine race pace but might be lacking over a qualifying lap. Ferrari look to be in a good overall position but I wonder if Alonso might be in decline compared to Vettel and Hamilton who are still rising.

Good chance of rain for qualifying and the race however.

Vettel with a car problem at the end of 3rd practice. Pretty much a washout with rain after 15 mins, and qualifying on a damp track by the looks of it. Hopefully that will help the McLaren's get a bit closer but I doubt it somehow. Quite fancy Webber for pole in these conditions.

Qualifying has now been postponed for 30 mins at least :???:

It really feels like the current decision makers are "wussies" compared to good old days, Senna would be driving out there like it's dry ffs!

Gotta give Vettel a chance by drying the track out as much as possible though. Alonso would have been 2 seconds faster had they started 30 mins ago.

Exactly.

I begin to hate them. They are stupid idiots and drive the sport to new lows.

There is nothing so special in the conditions. If it had been year 1998, there would have been no problem to go for the race even in much worse conditions.

What did they do to the sport, those idiots? :devilish:
