First feedback on the Xbox 360 Controller

You have gotta love this. Matt gives 1/2 a page of e3 wrapup on MS and Sony while Nintendo gets 1 & 1/2 pages.

Considering what info was released at the show he is doing damm good.

And yet people manage to twist it into him trolling for MS. Nice one

I didn't suggested that Matt had any link to Microsoft never mind "trolling for MS". Just wondered if he might join XBox IGN as rumoured.

I didn't have a problem with Matts E3 coverage either. Though now that you bring it up just FYI that wasn't supposed to be a general E3 writeup. It was supposed to be a Nintendo specific article (MS and Sony have their own seperate articles).

Why oh why can't they put a trackball or somethign on these controllers for FPS, or some kind of solution that works better than a analog stick.

Hell, for FPS's, it could be a sliding PIN like [-----o-----] that you can move rapidly back and forth like your mouse. Left/right aiming would be very fast. Up/down aiming would be either auto-aim or use a stick.
Please, no trackballs. Analog sticks are really better than that, as is the trackpoint and even the crappy touchpad on my notebook.
But for fast aiming, nothing beats a mouse.

Your right Teasy, though I guess he was just in a hard place trying to do a writeup for Nintendo and fill some space.

The interesting thing about the X360 controller is that its lighter even with batteries compared to the S-Controller.

The Anandtech article shows a pic of the top of the controller with a port there. No doubt that port will be for the gamecam/webcam peripheral.

I was wondering how they were going to manage a webcam connected on the console 10 feet away but this makes more sense.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found out friday the ms rep is bringing the controllers to the store for us to see . i'm hoping my boss will let me take a lunch break and go check it out .

I wish someone would make analog sticks like on the Saturn 3D controller, for me it is the best feeling and easiest to use precisely. It isn't really a "stick" though, it is like a thumb pad on top of a ball.

Heh, I had to take apart my DC controllers a couple of times to fix the triggers.

Amen! NiGHTS is also my favourite game of all time ever...

The dual tone on the Xbox 360 controller looks nice too. I also like the minimal button layout like the Super Famicom conroller ABXY red, green, blue, yellow. That silver Xbox globe think is cool too. Also nice to hear it has built-in rumble something that I wish the Wavebird had. :?
