Final Fantasy 12 - Reviews

If you beat the game in DQVIII, you're given the option to save the game. After you save, you replay through a part of the game and you then get to see the "true ending" (which is much better in my opinion!). So it's definately worth saving after you beat the game and playing through that certain part again.

Okay,thanks

Damn it! Now I'm sad that I actually sold my PS2. (Was poor and needed money for friends b-day party ) I know I know, stupid move but desperate times require desperate moves. I'll be certainly buying this baby along with my PS3 next fall. Or borrow my friends PS2 before it. :)

I'm currently playing this game, and all I need to say is... Coming to post in this thread already feels like I've wasted too much time away from FFXII ;)

The new battle format is strange and Im still trying to get used to it. You can mover your ppl around and give commands at the same time.

Who needs to review it, when you can place the cool Collector's Edition tin in the freezer and then stick it down your pants while you marath...

!!!

I have said too much!

My copy is on it's way from Canada, I won't be getting it for the weekend though , but somehow I will have to find strenght to carry on...

I'm absolutely loving the new battle system, leveling up my characters is actually fun now. I hated leveling sessions in earlier FF games because I knew that I had to sit through the damn pause where the game switched between exploration and battle mode, and then I had to sit through an annoying screen that told me how much xp and money I earned, and I also had to sit through the characters doing their poses. The new system is so much quicker and more streamlined, and I'm absolutely diggin' the strategy that goes into setting up gambits before major battles.

I'd also like to say that the game is absolutely beautiful with no real noticeable slowdown, and the exploration is much more interesting and important in this game. I also enjoy how enemies don't just drop money so you have to sell items you pick up. If you kill the same type of enemy a bunch of times in a row, you build up your kill chain and the chance of item drops (including rare drops) increases and thus you can earn more money that way.

Most of all, I absolutely love seeing enemies before I stumble onto them. No more attacks every 2 or 3 steps for no discernible reason! If I see an enemy I can attempt to sneak around him, bide my time until I'm ready to face him, or run straight at him knowing I'm about to fight. It's so much better than the previous mechanics IMO.

Basically, I'm really loving this game. I haven't had a chance to get too far into the game (only about 9 hours into it at the moment), but I'm probably having more FUN with this game than most other RPG's I've played due to the mechanics actually being enjoyable and streamlined. I can't wait to try out the more advanced gambits, magic, and exploring the license board some more! Oh, not to mention wanting to hear more of the story. :)

I just wish TEH SHIMMERS! could have been somehow solved. <sigh> Such an eyesore in the middle of everything else. (And no, I'm not blaming textures, either.)

Most everything I'm hearing sounds good to me. I haven't played a final fantasy game for quite a while except for FF Tactics. On the spur of the moment I had preordered it online (but went for the cheapest shipping available), and it should be here soon. Somewhat hard going back to last gen, but it'll be worth it from the impressions I'm seeing. (still haven't played SotC, and I'm waiting for Rogue Galaxy. Even if it's only half as good as Dark Cloud 2, it'll be awesome)

Just read through the IGN review, and they absolutely loved the game...

US, October 27, 2006 - How often can one say, "The wait was worth it" and truly mean it? When is it okay to claim that, "This is one of the best examples of [insert genre here] ever" and not just say it for cliché's sake? But most importantly, when does a game with momentous hype and anticipation actually live up to media, consumer, and competitor expectations? The answer to all three of those questions is a simple one, "When you're playing Final Fantasy XII."

Not that i really care, but after all that, they gave it a 9.5, the same as FFX and FFX-2?? Doesn't make much sense, but it's just a number after all...

So it's going to be released on 23/02/2007 here in euroland? arghargharghargh!

What the **** do I have to do for this misery to finally stop? Do I really have to move to the US to not be shafted each and every time a new console / game gets released?

Be grateful it's february and not september!! Remember how long it took for FFX to get here??;)

Don't worry, European gamers don't mind delays, as we all know.

Thinking about the PS3 delay Sony would do well to throw us a bone.
I don't get why it takes so long to adjust shit for 50Hz anyway. FF translations into languages other than English aren't particularly high-quality either, it just can't take several months to run the game text through Babelfish esentially (yeah, that's how bad it is).

Incidentally in December PSM3, Phil Harrison cited Europe's complex distribution and number of countries [languages] as the main reasons why they needed to delay European launch:

"There is only one language in Japan and it's much quicker to distribute. America is effectively one market, with three languages, but homogenous from Canada to Mexico, and shipping from China to America is quite easy. Europe has more countries and much more complex distribution, so the time to market would have been too great for an effective launch. I'm really sorry that we had to delay the launch..."

Square-Enix should feel the same pain (except that they don't press the discs in China, me thinks). Actually if xbdestroya is interested, this could be an article idea (How game dev and distribution for Europe work). ;)
