Far Cry 4

Ok, the game downloaded over night...

I must say that I am in principal very impressed by the graphics. Especially the very clean image. I like it. However, there is something going on in this game, which I also had in Driveclub: it permanently feels to me, that the scree is somehow to dark and someone should switch a light on! I can't put my fingers on it, but it just seems so very dark to me...I already adjusted the gamma slider up, to make it a bit more brighter...I am really starting to wonder if my PS4 settings are somehow off. But I tried (again) using RGB full or reduced, which did not change this problem at all. Is there another setting I could do wrong with my PS4? Or maybe it is my Panasonic Plasma making troubles? Is anyone else having this impression when playing this game?

When you use RGB full on PS4 you have to be sure your TV is correctly set particularly on this game and Driveclub that I noticed are indeed a bit dark in some areas.

There could be several settings that can increase the black tone on a TV: On my Samsung TV:

- color space (RGB) -> native (assuming PS4 is set to full too with RGB set to full)
- HDMI black level -> normal (it's a black crush option many TVs have, it must be off, normal here means off)
- black tone -> off (another black setting present on my TV)
- dynamic contrast -> off (along with all effects that must be off)
- gamma -> 1, 2 or 3

Wow so it's not just me, and I also have a wonderful Panasonic plasma. It's hard to explain because the image does get bright, but I can't help but feel that both Driveclub and FC4 have a slightly darker look than other games. It's definitely not the RGB settings as that would show up on every game.

Thanks! I did check the actual game install...27gig was already alocated, but the actual data which was downloaded was much smaller...stupid way of doing preloading imo!
It's really the only way it should be done. You allocate the space first which dedicates it to the game so nothing else takes it whilst it's downloading.

Can someone tell me the difference between FC3 and FC2? I found FC2 boring after a day or two because I didn't find the game all that engaging. But I have heard nothing but good things about FC3 and people are seriously hyped about FC4. I want to give the game another chance but worried its more of the same.

Is there something that makes FC3 more than just your typical sequel of a sequel. If so, what has changed for the better?

Well, apart from huge gameplay improvements there is this guy:

And I miss him a little while playing FC4

Apparently, there's this "Amita" character which is "inspired" by Anita Sarkeesian.
To the people who played the game, what do you think of this?

This part in the character description is kind of obvious, though:
Amita sees the practice as superstitious, old and ultimately sexist, objectifying young women and robbing them of autonomy, a good education and social life

The PS4 version is very impressive. Large open world, great IQ and stable 30fps @ 1080P. Finally Ubi delivered on their promises for the first time this year.

From what u have played on the pc I can say it's not a problem there. Yes, it can be darkish but not like you describe it.

I am fine with this aspect and agree with you...but I wished the preload did meant downloading the whole game and not only the amount of data to play the prologue. Because my PS4 told that the FC4 dl is finished now, than I switched it off. After the game got unlocked, I started playing but realising that the vast amount of data is missing and that I can only finish the prologue...

Thanks, I'll try it...but I am "happy" that LB feels the same, so it might just be the particular game and not my PS4/TV. Maybe it is related to HBAO which just makes everything a bit to dark?

Hah yeah I see what you mean now. Not sure why they'd not download the entire amount given it's protected data.

this is so tempting, I know I have a pile of games but I can get this for ~ £21 (nectar double points promo)...I'm never going to be able to buy it cheaper and I don't have another FPS other than battlefield 4...arrgghhh...must resist....

That's a great price. Sounds like a no-brainer to me!

Where did you see that offer by the way (in-store or online)? I have some Nectar points burning a hole in my virtual pocket.

So last night Globalisateur and I teamed up for a coop game and it was brilliant. I usually hate online multiplayer but this was just perfect. Go around with no real aim and liberate outposts, shooting people, running people over, doing small side missions that would pop up here and there. And the best part is me hopping on a car or the little helicopter thing and wait for him to jump in so we could go explore.
Lots of fun!

yeah, think I'll get it!

Just go instore, hand over the nectar card and ask for how much you want - so for this I'd get £40 in vouchers which would deduct £20 off my nectar account. Then use that to pay for the game (I think it's £42.99 instore so essentially £22.99).

TBH I'd probably get more stuff anyway what with Christmas round the corner so end up getting it for half price...depends how many Christmas bits I need to get.

Yes indeed. They added many more stuff to do in the open world mode, compared to FC3, which add a lot more variety.

Everything except the main missions can be done in coop apparently, and the guest(s) (here london-boy) can accomplish stuff alone in my world, like painfully climbing and activating a radio tower while I lazily wait down admiring the scenery. :p
