woah! Sega Megadrive/genesis emu on PSP has been released
so far it plays actually quite well !

only for v1.0 folks

oh, neogeo cd emu v0.1 has also been released but i dont have experience with it.

waiting for MAME to come !

*wonders if 1.5-onward has some nasty protection that prevents devs from making stuff like this*

Emulation would be a BIG reason for me to get a PSP (video playback too), even moreso than regular PSP games. It makes sense from a business point of view, since Sony make money from the games, not the hardware.

to be honest, most of the time i play just old shootem ups for pc-engine on my psp.

Rtype , xevious , twincobra.... RRRRRR :)

Is there already a, good, MIPS/RISC port of MAME?

From the recent news, it seems that a hack for the 1.5 PSP is coming.

most probably current moneymaking hackers are trying to beat the 1.5 problem. like team executor and others.

my friend claimed he already had a loader for a few games... probably fake but i will check it out.

From some group called Dynarox (They have supposedly released working isos of PSP games).
In a really near future , a loader will be released to make games work via the memory card. In a way to admit it , Soon all games will work on V1.0, V1.5. We Need to make some more test. Til then be patient.
It's rumored to be a firmware replacement. Wait and see.

And then there's that, a potential buffer overflow found on the PSP:

Magnus the Shadow sent us a version of the Must Update file that he worked on.

HACKEDEBOOT.PBP is a version that proves the buffer overload method.

1.0EBOOT.PBP is a version that can be run an any PSP.

Just put this on your PSP (PSP ver 1.0/1.5, unsure of 1.51)
under "PSP\GAME\HACK" and rename the .pbp as eboot.

Go to GAME on the PSP Menu and then go down to MEMORY STICK
Execute the file, you will receive the error message of it being corrupted. Ignore that by pressing "O" and then
press "X" again it will bring up the "you must update the ver." window.

Don't worry this program in no way changes your PSP

He had this to say: The .sfo file (PARAM FILE) in the .pbp can be altered to become a loader, but this can only be done through ELF scripting (Which I can't exactly do). Once an ELF loader is written and replaces the You need to update window section of text i believe a Homebrew app can be run. most likely candidate to is the app Turbo Grafx 16, which will allow us launch other homebrew apps from the PSP!

I wonder if there's a way PC-Engine can put a negative spin on THIS aspect of the PSP ;)

Why would I need to? It does a pretty good job defeating itself already ie only works with ver 1.0 firmware and Japanese PSP too. ;)

Well personally, i'd buy a PSP just for this. Imagine, playing amazing NeoGeo games on PSP off the memstick, great batterly life -relatively speaking- cause the disc is not spinning, lots of games that are better than most PSP games.... it's purr-fect.. ;)

Problem is that i'd hardly get any PSP games, with this reserve of free games that would keep me occupied a whole lot.

best of all, i only paid 110euro for a as-good-as-perfect-v1.0-second-hand-psp and the most fun, the previeus owner forgot his 32mb memorystick inside it. that i sold again for 10euro ;)
it good to be the king

Baaaaaaaaahahahaha, you really are the worst troll on this forum.

Hey now, you thought a Scientific Calculator was cool on the DS. No way you can't consider this variety of emulation WAY more cool.

Actually games emulation is old news. Been there done that on PC, PocketPC etc. It's cool but not THAT cool. That Scientific Calculator is MUCH more clever with TOUCH input virtual buttons and dual screens. ;)
